Sunday [1 to 4]

(0649) Morning all … overcast out there today.  Evets is up at NOWP. (0721)

4.  Spitfire down

(The link was just to the X posting, you see a second above it.)

Thoughts are many … about how long Supermarine Spitfires can continue to be kept aloft, about maintenance schedules and quality of maintenance these days … no conclusions on these but still … thoughts go through the mind.)

3.  DAD at NOWP

a) Rishi Sunak’s election campaign launch might have been humiliating, but Sir Keir Starmer’s revealed something far more worrying about the imminent prospect of a Labour government.

An event was held in Kent and featured a number of Labour bigwigs. But there was a notable exclusion: Rosie Duffield—the only elected Labour MP in the county. The reason for this, though Labour won’t admit it, is both simple and sinister.

The party’s leadership does not want to be associated with Duffield’s mainstream view that only women have a cervix and that transgender women are not women (i.e. they are men).

b) France conducted its first test launch of a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, according to a post by the country’s defence minister Sébastien Lecornu on the social media platform X.

The ASMPA-R missile was launched without a warhead from a Rafale fighter jet during an exercise “over national territory at the end of a flight simulating a nuclear airstrike”.

c) Sebastian Vaughan-Spruce, a 44-year-old landscape gardener and pro-life activist, was fined on May 16 in Birmingham, England over suspicion of his silent thoughts in violation of the “buffer zone” regulations enforced by local authorities, according to a video and press release provided to Fox News Digital by March for Life UK.

He carried no sign and remained completely silent until approached by officers, in which he clarified he was not praying silently in his head.

[DAD – Sebastian is the brother of Isabel Vaughan-Spruce who was arrested a few months ago for the same “crime”. Praying is such a powerful activity the the authorities want it stopped.]

d) As of the end of March, 4,791 people without residence permits were deported from Germany. Compared to the same period last year, this is approximately a 34% increase. From January to March, North Macedonia led in the number of citizens returned, followed by Turkey and Georgia.

However, deportations often do not occur as planned. In the first quarter of this year, 7,048 scheduled repatriations did not take place. Most of these were due to the inability to locate the individuals or flight cancellations. Medical reasons played a significantly smaller role.

1.  In praise of broken sleep

… providing the sleep is in two distinct halves and you feel no angst over it. As long as it seems a natural “night waking”, just incorporate it. There are reasons, including bad habits such as sleeping on an arm, apnea for a partner, the temperature not being right for the bedding …

… also, while eight hours is good when younger, two three point fives is fine for older, providing every so often you’re able to crash and sleep a nine or eight and a half. Providing also you have the diet and exercise sorted.

… and diet does not mean “going on” one, it means getting the optimum balance going, given your years. Also, taking care of the spiritual side removes huge chunks of stress. We’re all stressed about these days, this time period … and I’ll be adding to that above … but if you have the spiritual side in hand, the sanity stays this side of the line.

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
