Rita downunder

Wednesday [12 to 14]

Elevenses.

14.  The comments issue has arisen yet again.

The problem for me is the comment itself is too good not to post:

The issue is the Blgr comments system, hence I have this in the sidebar:

As commenters know, I'm not remotely interested in identity or location ... thank goodness Blgr don't show this to the admin anyway ... I'm interested in the comment, unless bona fides is germane to the issue, in which case the commenter would provide that.

Clearly the sidebar notice is not working, so I'll now explore a notice at source.  Some sort of moniker is important up front because readers check the sidebar comments.  It's simply a courtesy.

One thing I have been thinking about though is what if one of our regulars had a sensitive comment and preferred not to use his moniker?  Not an issue ... invent another, no skin off my nose ... as I say, it's a sidebar courtesy, that's all.

It continues:

The obvious place to leave the message to commenters is on the line provided … it won’t let me type anything.  Back to the drawing board.

13.  Cultural appropriation?

I [we] run jazz here, blues, I've run Arabika, in Russia I was taken as half Russian, I ate like them, thought half like them so maybe I'm the last to attack cultural appropriation and especially dislike the left's way of abusing that.  If I play Osibisa, it's not misappropriating anything, it's in a way a tribute.

But not these two clowns who remind me immediately of the two leftwing Norwegian girls in Morocco who think independent travel for girls is danger free.

That would be bad enough but they're completely contrived, as is seen in the tribesmen's reactions - what the hell is that on their hands and what's with the hair? Within Europe, it would be utterly stoopid but in Africa itself, it's almost insulting pretending to be love-everyone tribal, not unlike those two clowns from Austria who went and joined Isis, only to be, of course, beaten to death for trying to escape.

It's like Madonna going to Africa for her babies or Killery to Haiti.  There's something completely wrong about that side of socio-politics and these two females exemplify it. Compare that to PD's the other day:

https://youtu.be/BiWWL3OqJGo

The footage is genuine, the boat on the river is real, the animals are real.  Enya is contrived, being treehugger Irish but no matter, it seems to fit the footage.

Anyway, I went to the uploader's a/c and there was this:

I'd wager she would have been gobsmacked by YT's actions ... after all, she was only trying to spread the Woke lurve, was she not?

11.  Just to repeat

Urls are at Tuesday [16 till close of play]:

Midweek sermon

This was a YT recommended … Sandra Hart, ex Romper Room host, Pittsburg area, broken family, actress, 83 now in Florida, maybe Miami. I was interested in the 83 bit, as those in their 80s whom I know tend not to give advice.  It would be helpful to one still young[ish].

Many of these points are quite good, I add some to them.

1.  Don’t wish your life away. Set a goal and pursue it.  This alo relates to setting projects.

2.  Don’t take on something you’re hesitant about. This is related to n5 and cuts both ways.  If something seems iffy, it may well be but we can be wrong.  She missed an opportunity she should have taken.

3.  Do not hide your love, do not take it for granted. Always be supportive of your children but it’s one direction only, you’ll never get the same love back from them.

4.  Don’t hold onto bitter feelings. Cut your losses and learn.  Grudges, brooding resentment … they just eat us up.  The bad side then wins.  That’s important for us at N.O.  We are heat seeking missiles, caustic, distrusting, that’s our job.  However, once we’ve done for the bstds, drop what they did to us.  Life’s too short. But watch your perimeter defences all the same.

5.  Don’t ignore your intuition.  Distance yourself if necessary. Walk away. Uh huh, I’d add that sometimes one must act fast to counter a threat, with terminal prejudice.  Not to do so out of some misplaced dogoodism just makes it worse.

6.  Don’t get stuck. Do what it takes. Always have a mission or project.  Well yes.  No navel gazing, moping … well 5 minutes maybe, then get going again. If you have no project, devise one.

7.  Don’t stop educating yourself. She’s telling N.O. readers that?

8.  Don’t lose your individuality.  Again, she’s telling N.O. readers that?

Two of mine:

9.  Don’t let them rush you.  Big, big point.  They want it done yesterday, they want you to drop everything.  Sometimes, even five years constitutes ‘dropping everything’.  Some things do take ages to unfold … it’s not procrastination, it’s n2 above, first sentence.

10.  Dump false gods now.  Ditch that ego. My logic says to trust only a God who offers a tough road, comfort, support and clarity of mind, plus a path to redemption.  Others may differ of course and prefer money, fame, sex, being a big shot.

7.  Daily Sceptic

Further legitimate doubts are being raised about the scale of global warming claimed by the U.K. Met Office, following publication of a damning report into U.S. weather stations. The report found that 96% of the weather stations used by the U.S. weather service NOAA were “corrupted” by the localised effects of urbanisation. The U.S. has one of the largest temperature measuring systems in the world, and information from the stations forms an important part of the Met Office HadCRUT5 database.
Yes, yes and yes again.
