Thursday [7 to 10]

(0730)(0930)

10.  Nice post by Ian P

Abba … some songs certainly lasted for centrist tastes, right up till now and beyond, despite that appalling clothing.  Beatles?  I simply don’t like Lennon … detest everything he was about, what he did to Cynthia etc.  Not a nice man.  Paul?  Mixed.  George?  Ok.  Ringo?  Ok.  Pete Best? Things happen. Yet Lennon’s song Rain is still excellent.

The more time passes, the less I like the Beatles, ditto with the Stones. The Who?  Certain songs. The Kinks?  Certain songs. Waterloo Sunset yes … but no way Lola … or the stoopid behaviour. Nazareth?  Still good.  AC/DC?  Kiss?  Still avoid both like the plague.  Slade? Queen? Nah … just can’t get into the whole shtick … some songs good, one or two.  Bad Company?  More my thang … Free too.  Brit invasion?  Not really … Hollies, whoever did the Ferry Cross. Dave Clark Five? Some.

America?  Never really Lynyrd Skynyrd, some songs were good, not Meatloaf, not many of ZZ Top’s. Tastes do become more individualised, I’d contend. Grace Slick? Silly girl. Springsteen?  Not now with his unisex loo ideas. Drowning in Woke.

Oz bands or NZ on their day today?  Occasionally … really only Radio Birdman these days.

Agnetha’s still a honey.

9.  Wanna waffle a bit

This is on my early blogging in general, and the things we face as bloggers. The post url is below, the interest is perhaps in the comments thread:

https://nourishingobscurity.blogspot.com/2008/04/anzac-day-gallipoli-april-25th-1915.html

At that point, I was nearing the end of my time in Russia, the official issues had begun. Though not exactly a new blogger and having been through the Bloghounds thing, an eye opener to be sure, there was much aggression between world views, shall we say … things did not really settle down for me till later in 2009 … back here … plus by then I was more experienced at this blogging game.

In short, I was still trying to be nice to the un-nice in 2008 and that anonymous clown was clearly trying to derail the comments thread. These days I’d just shut him out or ignore him … in that specific case, I should have blocked.  Nice to see Nunyaa defending me, as I’d do her.

Conclusion? Experience does help. I could have had all the outside world experience, a modest amount of wisdom, not huge … and still I’d get caught in traps.

Not saying it’s not possible today either … methinks we’re heading for some very aggressive times ahead and I’ve always made errors … I’m thinking though that experience in a particular field  … well maybe it fazes you less than it once may have when attacked from unexpected quarters. Experience can calm you a bit more than on average.
