Palm Sunday [9 to 12]

(0918) Morning all, this Palm Sunday. This week is about Jesus of Nazareth and His triumphant entry to Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. There can be triumph in humility, even having suffered humiliation. (0943)

This article (for me at least) sums up the Moscow 'terrorist' attack! What sort of 'leaders' do we have?

"does it advance Ukraine’s military prospects in anyway. It is important to note that the attack has rallied world sympathy for Russia,"

Nick Hinton:

“So, you’re telling me that on 3/22 ISIS, a terrorist organization named after the Egyptian goddess of fertility, attacked Crocus City Hall, a place named after a flower that symbolizes fertility, during Ostara, a pagan holiday that celebrates fertility? Like Easter, symbols of Ostara include the crocus flower and rabbits. And on the same day as the terrorist attack, CERN launched the White Rabbit Collaboration. Shortly after, NASA announced it will send discs to the Moon. The Moon is associated with fertility and rabbits in many pagan traditions as well. People have also pointed out how the footage of the terrorist attack was reminiscent of Tenet’s opening scene. Tenet was a movie about time travel. And some conspiracy theorists claim CERN is a time machine. In movies like Donnie Darko and Alice in Wonderland, the white rabbit is linked with time travel. Tenet was loaded with Saturn symbolism too. In Greek mythology, Saturn was called Cronus, the god of time. And NASA claims Saturn has a hexagonal storm on its North Pole that rotates at about 322 kilometers per hour. So, what does all of this mean? Nothing. Our world is run by pagans and demons. We live in evil times. Find God.”

IYE adds:

Here’s the opening scene from Tenet, the film mentioned in comment below. Make sense of that if you will.

JH: The clip then follows at NOWP.

IYE again:

One thing’s for sure. I ain’t never going to a large arena like that one again whilst we are at war. Sitting ducks.

  1. Smart money says the attack in Russia was planned and funded by the CIA, and possibly set up by their agent Navalny before he met his end.
Smart money also says the planned bombing of Tucker Carlson when he was in Russia to interview Putin was ALSO arranged by them!

'a terrorist organization named after the Egyptian goddess of fertility'.
IMO this assertion is totally deranged.
Wikipedia (so it must be true, no?) has an entire article on the many names of ISIS. No Egyptian goddess, though...

  3. FoS quoting Wiki as a reliable source … that’s quite sweet really.

  4. "Isis was the ancient Egyptian goddess of marriage, fertility, motherhood, magic and medicine. Many myths and legends exist about Isis in Egypt and Egyptian literature uses several names and titles for this goddess. Worship of Isis, her temples and her cult spread through Egypt and parts of Europe."

  5. 10. The final comment about not attending large arenas. I remember well the advice from dear departed Ol' Remus, Avoid Crowds.

  6. FoS: Let's take it one at a time, bottom to top.

1- Dear Digger, I am quite aware that there was an Ancient Egytian deity called ISIS. My point is that there is no connection between the goddess and the crazy gang with the same name.

2- I thought that my ironic remark about Wikipedia (so it must be true, no?) would defuse the dog-whistle, but I was clearly wrong. If I remember correctly, our host and the author of this comment is happy to use Wikipedia for his biographies of hollywood stars. My aim in pointing to Wikipedia was to show that there is a perfectly respectable derivation of the name of the crazy gang without invoking an Ancient Egyptian deity.

3- If you tinfoil crackpots would like to describe the etymology of the name of the crazy gang in some plausible way then I shall listen (i.e. not just ISIS = ISIS). Remember, by the same token, most of the many Germans I have spoken to think Yorkshire pudding is blancmange (= 'Pudding' in German).

    1. FoS ... as mentioned in a fuller reply to DAD under the Mahler post, today was always going to be prickly on such topics, me-felt it was a day to venture outside the citadel just a bit, outside the comfort zone, leave myself open ... if the Isis thing was tricky ... wait till we get to the Statue of Astarte in NY harbour. :)

    1. Lovely sunshine today, perfect for potting and planting. The only problem is that Amazon have failed to deliver my potting compost. Have you seen that we are being warned to be frightened of another wall of snow blanketing the country?

    2. It was grey and threatening until after lunch here then skies cleared and the sun came out so "plant strawbs while the sunshines" as the saying doesn't go! Ran out of compost though. Thought I had plenty but some were bags of wood chippings. It was quite cold despite the sun. All my fruit trees are starting to blossom so I hope we do not get any severe dips in temp or frost.
