Sunday [1 to 3]

(0500) Morning all. (0643)

3.  Quick look around

Post possibly coming up on the rise of the new female monster, twice as conscienceless than the man, in a Chucky sort of way.

2.  Stress

Despite appearances to the contrary, I’m essentially happy … or should I say grateful … it could be far, far worse in my personal situation with this sword of damocles seemingly rusted into place and not swinging down. But rusted things break, so that’s always there at any moment.

And it’s not a great time just now at macro level … out there … in the society. In fact it’s downright dangerous. So there really must be found some relief which does not damage us. In very real terms, chaps and chapesses.

Especially when there’s a combination in play of deliberate stressing out of the ordinary people by Them, plus scamming the strategies put in place to find a way around obstacles. An example makes this more clear:

Parcel delivery. Both next door and I have had failures to deliver and every move has been made by poor firms to bgr up the process. We have a system whereby, if they’re at work, I’m happy enough to scoot down and collect for them but as I pointed out yesterday … I need training time, lengthy food preparation, sleep time.

Plus the only way this will work is if the firms buzz my buzzer from downstairs.

Ah, but there’s a Manchester scam going on that every local and every unethical driver knows … in one variant, they don’t log in, leave the parcel beside the footpath and drive off, then drive back, stop, steal. Especially with, say, gym equipment, the current scam:

“High value” does not need to be high monetary value, this is low value but highly desirable kit, esp. for men. Therefore, the parcel was collected by carrier and that was the last entry in that firm’s tracking log.

There’s a variant on the buzzing scam … the local knows that if he wiggles the button, it buzzes but can’t be answered by the resident … by which time, he’s scarpered.  This is now a big racket as more and more get home delivery.

Why this trend? To isolate people in their homes (think Ulez too). Which has bad consequences on baddies … they need new ways to steal and resell on ebay. There are two ways … get into this delivery game or else play the George Floyd bust in, threaten, beat up and rape method.

One consequence is people move out to better areas but that is no guarantee … as these are high value areas, ripe for the picking.

Ok, so we use a better delivery method, e.g. Amazon Prime. This involves a map of your area onscreen, showing the van’s moves. Ah, but the driver cleverly does not activate at warehouse, causing it to be “one stop” the whole way.  All sorts of scams. Plus anyone online sees your map. There is no way out.

The obvious solution is only buy when it’s Prime next day guaranteed. With Morrisons, that’s fine … they have an “attendance required” box. They must buzz and hand to “someone at your address”.  So at least we don’t starve.  For now. But Amazon proper do not offer that … they allow “delivery instructions” but it’s only a choice of prewritten instructions, none of which involve attendance.

So you go to the customer service Indian or deathculter and that’s not bad … she wrote it into my instructions months ago but some toerag supervisor has now removed that. Did I mention I was banned by Amazon for calling Hermes the worst firm in Britain?  Yet they want my good reviews. They called my calling out of Hermes and DPD “unusual activity … you may now no longer post reviews and if it continues …”

You see the slide, yes … criminalising the calling out of criminals … just ask Donny in Florida.  Or the other trick of saying one is not adhering to “community guidelines”.

Sharing images

There are certainly “space” considerations … an ipad image is around 2,800,000 bytes but the images I run need to be jpegs of around 100 bytes.  Divide the former by the latter and you get some sort of idea how overloaded even one image is.

Now imagine your friend sends eight images out of the kindness of his heart. Do the maths. Is it any wonder gmail won’t look at it, let alone iAnything. As for Win 11, 10, 8 … total rubbish. Only 7 still operates cleanly.

At this stage, an older sort of online user who realises he/she can only operate online now in this Brave New Cyber World is increasingly required to know all the latest jargon, apps, programmes … why would he/she?

And the IT itself now is total Gen Z c**p. Scriptkiddies with their new programmes, without basic functionality, but loading in space-eaters people don’t need coz “they’re cool”. And as for WP “blocks” … what a total waste of time and functionality.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where we are.
