4. AFL Grand Final
It's their Arsenal Cup at Wembley or Super Bowl.
It's always been, for 300 years or whatever, at the MCG, the only possible place for it is the MCG, the other states have always whined about it being played there but it never happened.
So they invented this coronavirus pandemic, installing at the same time, Josef Stalin Andrews to rub Victorians' noses in it, just as European 'leaders' detest Brits, and promptly shifted it to Perth, WA. Yeah, great joke, particularly as the two finalists are Melbourne itself, home ground the MCG, versus Footscray, a western suburbs working class team, otherwise known as the Western Bulldogs or British Bulldogs - the bluebloods versus the perennial losers.
Transplanted to WA. It's like running the Arsenal Cup* in Dubai.
Anyway, at 5:15 a.m. today, the ticker said five hours to go. Personally, I'm torn. My second team downunder is Melbourne, my mother's adopted team but I've a soft spot for the doggies too [girl I knew was from the western suburbs during a stint of mine down there] but that's not the main reason I like them.
It's that this whole Woke reset Comrade Andrews thing was overturned a fortnight ago when the Narrative was torn up. It's delicious. The team who were meant to play Melbourne were the detestable Port Adelaide thugs and the AFL and govt did everything they could to ensure it - the prelim at Port Adelaide, massive crowd, PA the second team on the table, doggies 5th, should have been a doddle. They were blown off their own park by the doggies.
Script said the Melbourne based team go to WA to be crucified by the Adelaide team. The PTB script is now in tatters. Melboune might still be beaten, top team this year, but if so, it's a popular Vic team going down to a Victorian working class sentimental perennial fave. So as I keep going on about ... sigh ... don't really mind. It's going to be a dream come true for a Victorian team around our midday.
* Known by some as the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, my own team here, AFC Wimbledon, went down to the Arsenal the other day in the EFL. My other team, Liverpool, are doing all right but they always do until New Year, don't they. My other other team, Alabama, had a major scare the other day, not playing well.

- “Chemotherapy rationed amid shortage of NHS staff to deliver it” – People with advanced forms of cancer are being denied treatment in some areas so resources can be directed to those with chance of survival, reports the Telegraph.
- “Some Premier League clubs have just six players jabbed” – Reports suggest that Premier League clubs fear the season could descend into ‘chaos’ amid ongoing resistance to Covid vaccines, with at least two squads having no more than six players vaccinated.
