Eternal Tuesday

12.  One does almost weep for America

There, but for the grace of God, go we.  Have to come back to this topic again [it was mentioned earlier]:

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/02/our_supreme_court_goes_full_nicaragua_in_pa_election_case.html

While I think the United States Supreme Court stumbled badly in its 7-2 rejection of the Texas case on standing last year, the refusal to “grant cert” (i.e., to take the case) yesterday in a Pennsylvania case is horrifying beyond words. I could say that our election laws are now full-on banana republic, but I’d hate to insult bananas that badly.

What sheer gutlessness on the part of Kavanaugh and Barrett. I'm still reeling from it and am not even in the country. What these two clowns singularly fail to realise is that in going along with this corruption, hiding behind their status as 'junior judges', they have lost the respect of the entire MAGA, most Republicans and all DemRats. I for one would never wish to be in that situation.

Jordan Peterson was a perfect example - if you're going to backslime [sic], then why go all gung ho in the first place, giving people hope? At least slimeballs like McConnell and Romney, Pelosi and Schumer, make no pretence of any seriousness of being anything but slimeballs - these people like K and B try to make out they're making decisions based on the Constitution.

Bullsh, utter bullsh. There is the little matter of the confidence of the American people in any sort of justice at the right time. And the DemRats are taunting someone to do something about the corruption but no one wants, to mix metaphors, bell the cat.

11. The double steamer

This is in the nature of a question for those who use these devices - if you have two different types of food - that which needs longer cooking time, and that which requires shorter - which should you use in the upper chamber near the lid and which in the lower?  Does one cook faster than the other?

I've been stunned how this new steamer is so intense with so little input from the smaller gas jet.

I did see DM's comment about his fayre.  Qeustion again - you have anything exciting on the plate today?

  1. The usual here James, M&S ready meal tonight, brunch of fried egg with bubble and squeak, bread and butter. Tea will be some rice pudding with prunes (as if I need them!). Gone are the days when I'd buy cuts of meat and cook up a storm, no more roux sauces or extra thick gravies. The will has gone, sucked out of me by this heinous government torture. Don't know about other people but I have already been reset.

  2. Steamer etiquette.
Longest cooking on the bottom. Saves burning ones fingers and allows for the fork test to be applied to both foods.

  3. Lunch was smoked haddie and pegg. Followed by a mug of decaff and some cinnamon biscuits.

  4. Dinner will be my beloved's wunnerful chicken liver pâté with toast and celery, followed by apple and bramble crumble with (probably) custard.
