I first read of this act of desecration at Gates of Vienna, then here, then here, then here and finally where an action group has been set up to tackle this. Now you might ask many questions: 1] why should a high-end, esoteric, American alumni issue concern us 2] so what, if they removed a heritage icon to appease other faiths?My answer to you would be that most blogs I’ve read have been rabbiting on about PC atrocities and appeasement and the assault on our way of life for months. All right – here’s a clear case of political correctness gone mad in the removal of a cultural icon, for no other reason than it is a cross.
Now here’s where the power of blogging comes in. The MSM won’t touch it because they’re under wraps. It’s only through you and you and you and you that this damnable PC can be exposed and the cynical administrator who perpetrated it and all such administrators can be made to see that they can’t run roughshod over the heritage of the people and get away with it.
There’s the challenge to the blogosphere. If you are genuinely concerned with liberty, will you pick up on this one and run with it? Will you do that, fearless bloggers? Liberty might just depend on it.

Áslaug Ösp Adalsteinsdóttir and Kári Jóhann Halldórsson have been sailing around the world for the past two years. Last Saturday night they were anchored off the coast of Venezuela, near the island Margarita, when pirates arrived. Halldórsson told RÚV that he had been on deck but his wife asleep in the cabin when he suddenly found himself staring down the barrel of a gun. The pirates fetched Adalsteinsdóttir from the cabin and tied her and her husband together on the deck. One robber pointed a gun at the couple while the others went through their belongings, stealing anything valuable.
Before leaving the yacht the pirates covered Halldórsson’s and Adalsteinsdóttir’s heads with a sheet, and Adalsteinsdóttir said she believed they would be executed. But the thieves left without harming the couple and after a while they managed to cut themselves loose and sail to the nearest town for help. Police in Venezuela are investigating the robbery be worth ISK 1.5 million (EUR 16,753, USD 21,422).
This blog feels that if you choose to sail anywhere near Venezuela ... well ... it is the Caribbean, after all. In an interesting aside, when kids google ‘pirate’ for some project or other, they can now also access 'lesbian' and 'gay' pirates to add to their work. Isn’t that helpful? Soon there'll no doubt be 'Roger the Coke Snorter'.

[auckland] that strange hum people are hearing
Here are some comments on that strange 56Hz hum that people have been hearing in and around Auckland: Dr Moir and his colleague Dr Fakhrul Alam have dubbed the sound an unidentified acoustic phenomena. "If this is indeed the hum, then it's acoustical and not electromagnetic." Another said it was like the humming of sand dunes; yet another thought it was like someone blowing over the top of an empty bottle. And yet again: "There could be some subtle natural geological organ pipes in the hills." Whatever, the sound remains a mystery. Do you have some explanation?
