Tuesday [1 to 4]

(0704) Late start, good reader, correspondence and OoL took some time. (0743)

4.  Some housekeeping, blog and personal

The reason for the changed order today is chronological. Two or three worrying things on the home front had me taking things as they arose and MftWC was better as first read, (second) last posted (just today). There are personal matters just now shan’t bore you with.

One though I shall, by responding to Toodles’s post … or part of it:

Thing is, we have no idea and security-wise, that’s best for all, inc. Digger. It could be absolutely anything, from frustration to medical to security … better not to speculate, though it hurts N.O. too. Little prayers now and then it’s nothing dire.

a) Edouard Balladur - ex-Premier Minister speaks-out regarding the Constitutional Court's decision to reject a referendum.

[DAD - The Court says that we can't give 'the people' the final decision - they might give the the 'wrong answer' - i.e. not our decision.]

"With regard to immigration regulations, it is up to France to decide sovereignly who is competent to do so. It can only be the French people, the exclusive author of our institutions. In this matter, there is no legitimacy other than its own. The decision comes back to the referendum in order to modify the Constitution and specify the powers of each person".

"We must return the Constitutional Council to its natural competence, and also bring back the various national, European or international institutions which arrogate to themselves the right to create new European law by interpreting the treaties as they wish with the effect if not sometimes the goal the weakening of French sovereignty".

"These are the Council of State, the Constitutional Council, the Court of Cassation, the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union".

b) Having left to spread the “good word” to Moroccans residing in Europe, they never returned to the Kingdom. Thirteen imams, sent to France, Belgium and Germany by the Moroccan Ministry of Religious Affairs for the month of Ramadan “disappeared into thin air” upon their return to the country.

They hold a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or even a doctorate. They are paid monthly by the Moroccan state to work in their mosque and benefited from a round trip, all expenses paid, to Europe to lead Ramadan prayers there.

c) Media paints French Right-Wing Leader’s self-defence as assault on woman.

While visiting Corsica as part of the campaign for the European elections, Reconquête party leader Éric Zemmour was attacked during a visit to a market on the island. Greeted with insults and egg-throwing, he defended himself against a woman who targeted him, fuelling accusations from the press of violence on his part.

The incident took place on the market in Ajaccio, the regional capital of Corsica. The president of Reconquête, who had come to campaign with his activists, was greeted with cries of “fascist” and “racist piece of [expletive],” and was targeted by opponents who threw eggs in his face. Reacting instinctively to a woman’s attack coming from behind, he made a defensive gesture towards her.

d) The Home Office loses at least 21,000 asylum seekers in five years - and the true figure could be far higher.

Figures obtained from the Home Office show that officials have been unable to locate at least 21,107 foreign nationals who claimed to be refugees.

The vast majority of those who have disappeared have no right to remain in the UK because their claims have been refused or withdrawn – and the true figure will be far higher as the data covers only the five years up to September 2023.
