(1751) Evening all. Oops, started the afternoon’s blogging a few hours back … er … fell asleep … we oldtimers dontchaknow!  (1942) A very good year and Evets is up across the way.

18.  There are two Beach Boys songs

… which mean a lot to me for different reasons, both redolent of times now passed … one is Sloop John B, an actual boat, a trad Bahamian song. The Caribbean was certainly in the plans for the boat I was building, aiming to be in the area not during the hurricane season, taking in Alabama and Florida. Sloop John B evokes that region and how. Nowadays I can’t listen to the song without the pain of lost opportunity.

The other reminds me, far more than California Girls, of that weird incident some decades back when I was there, in situ, on a beach with California girls … I’ve written about this three or four times. Mine host took me for a drive, including this beach he knew, sunny day, summer, me in a loud beach shirt borrowed from a Canadian mate, host went over to a “bunch” of girls, maybe six to eight of them … next thing I knew, he was setting up for a camera shot and eight, say, scantily clad California girls were all over me … for effect of course.

Delighted? Me? No, I was not and am still wondering why … thinking it had to be that they were way too young, maybe my shirt was ridiculous, maybe I was just a curmudgeon. But I know I was uncomfortable … very very strange reaction for someone like me. Thinking about it, a few were taller than I, so maybe it was ok agewise … I’d like to know where that photo got to.

Mike Love was an enigma … not a particularly nice man by all accounts, got a groupie up the duff, at odds with bandmates, did not play an instrument … and yet his voice and influence really held them together.  The whole surfer shtick was not them after the earliest years but I was living in places where it was very much heavily influential … on the coast, whether in the U.S. or Oz.

Regrets about lost youth? Never really been my thang … just missed chances when it really was on the cards, e.g. up to July 2017. I don’t feel regret, lost youth type, because I’ve had a good run, plus we’re still at it in the here and now, aren’t we? We’re in a war together, right now … would rather not be in this war but here we are … ho hum and it’s very, real, it’s live action.

17.  In which it’s probably unfair to criticise YT

… not on this matter anyhoo … the matter of judging recommended by personal preferences. Sometimes they kick in and recommend well, keeping within the genre or suggesting just outside the genre.

But even algorithms have limits and on the strength The Platters and the Dave Clark Five … look at the first eleven before The Searchers and Shadows:

Those first eleven which flooded my YT preferences just now were soft pop in their day, girlie songs in pretty matching uniforms, e.g. Sarstedt: Where Do You Go To My Lovely … why on earth would I have listened to them (aside from no choice if radio played)?  Given that I mainly listened to The Stones, The Who, later The Stranglers and Ten Years After, Yardbirds, plus 50s Brylcream rock … plus Zeppelin etc. … why would YT send me girlie pop?

Then it tumbled … there are so many ladies on my YT channel, inc. knitting and hairdressing … well ok … I can see how a girlie algorithm might conclude … ah, kindred spirit.

Truth is … males doing pretty pretty pop just did not cut it with spotty herberts like us … ride our bikes, graze our knees, fighting much of the time, swinging from monkey bars, climbing frames.

Now, the Beach Boys … last on the list above … guess which number they included at YT? Good Vibrations? Do It Again? Barbara Ann?  Nope … they recommended I Can Hear Music!  Just what do they think I am? Probably a male sniffing ladies’ smalls … and no I don’t, thank you very much.

Tell you what … those pop groups of the 60s were pretty twee, think you not? If you were around then I mean.

Roger Hallam has said it. And who are we to doubt him. We are too late in our feeble attempts to Save The Planet by culling cows and eating bugs. We are past the Tipping Point forecast to be five years in future for the last thirty, forty years. We may as well relax like the Wise Men of the East in China and India, accept the inevitable, throw another CO2 emitting steak on the non renewable barbie fire, release willy-nilly that deadly CO2 from the beer bottle and enjoy the few years, centuries, millennia we have left.. 13.  Today’s personal doings

I went into that thing expecting to be written down for various tests and probings over the next weeks whilst being basically ok. Two nurses put me through a grilling … Higham was not averse … and it turned out it was ok “no action at this time” but I myself don’t think it’s all good. Have taken some steps to address it.

They still did not buy it but my n1 health threat is having to go outside for more than half an hour … it hits my throat, that starts the ears, nose, gut and it’s downhill from there. If I was maybe 80% confident in that before today, I’m now 💯. For a start, that sky was Gates chemical cloud … then there’s the hygiene of a house for the sick I went to … then all the vaxxed shedding over me.

So, like that granny who was convinced electrickery was giving her cancer … I’m convinced it ain’t healthy outside in crowds. I’m staying in isolation.

Furthermore, after I got back, outside, that illness started kicking in again while still outside and my dropping asleep was part of that. It should clear by tomorrow … strepsil in a minute.

Two other things … the waiting room was not empty, as in X photos, nor teeming … there were a few there.

Far more concerning was a building in town where, now emboldened, they have painted a sign announcing a deathcult centre. In this town?  Knowing the locals, there’ll be pigs’ heads, bacon, bombings of that building … word is they’re pushing to declare it an imam hate centre.

Not my biz at this point … the locals will Ulez it soon enough.
