I popped in to post a video (NOWP 336) which brought tears to my eyes. Sweet tears, not the tears of the misery brought on by the twitter video of the Italian cattle. Or the articles posted by Evets. I wanted to lighten hearts, some chance of that.

Now it’s vital that I, as moderator, immediately jump in to say that what we’re trying to do here is not hide the truth, not at all, truth which is too unbearable for any decent person, that’s true, but to “ameliorate” it, deflect, blunt, prepare the reader … forewarn. 

This is my core job as I see it. You’ll drop in, knowing that nothing horrific is going to ever be graphically displayed, quite the opposite, but there is a way, through a few steps you’d need to take yourself, to find the horror, should you need it.

It’s like one exercise in the gym I’m thinking of where perfect form is needed … back, feet, arms, hands, limited range of movement. We can slowly take risks bit by bit, protecting our mind and body … we need to be adult, careful, observant, calm. No overloading, always with an escape route but never running away from harsh reality. It’s a balance, a middle way.

Evets does a vital job, he presents reality as it is that day, mainly with a US slant or Ukro, he gives the political fayre structure. Overall, all of our volunteer drop-inners give an angle we need … that’s not pap, it’s simply true. The current loss of DAD hurts our French reports. We roll with the punches. 

And we harden up, not to the point of being psycho-cold like Them or their trained young now, but to the point of being resilient, never despairing … just noting, making decisions. Three suggestions:

a.  Breathing from the diaphragm, from deep inside, body straight … very first resort. Not from the chest, which is shallow, “fear or anger” breathing.

b.  Hydrate … keep something at hand … I have a lemon concoction always within range … just have a little. Toodles has iced tea, you have yours.

c.  Always have our fall back position and perimeter defences, be ruthless in maintaining them in good repair … don’t tolerate real threats, take steps, choose what we wish to engage on, otherwise deflect.
