12 hour time is just inadequate, especially across midnight.  But I'd also suggest that 24 hour time is also fraught.  Seems to me that 48 hour time covers contingies better, e.g. when is Christmas Day.

Example ... let's say it's 0551 as I designate it, no embellishments.  To get US time, I find it useful to add 2400, making our current time at writing this 2951.  Take 600 for Toodles and her time is 2351, or 9 minutes before midnight.

Going the other way, Moscow is 0851, Hobart 1651.  Later in the day, our 1423, or 23 mins past 2 p.m., is easier as 1423, add 1100 for Hobart and it's 2523, or 1 hour 23 mins past midnight, or in my numeroclature ... 0123.

It only becomes complicated if constantly trying to convert to other styles.  Look at Auckland coming into Christmas at midnight or rather 0001.  Think of that as 2401.  Take 1300 and it's still 1101GMT the previous day.

I really have to keep repeating this ... the govt takes it upon itself to forcefully drive 3000 farmers out of work? What are they going to do, those families?  And over what utter bollox as nitrogen.
