I knew what Andrew himself looked like but didn’t really know much about the power behind the Torba throne - he protects his family, rightly so.

Right, she has Christmas lights to go into a Greek socket.  She asked me, “A 34V lamp in a 48V socket, is it a problem?” She added, “Both are 3 amp.”

    If it were a 48v bulb in a 36 volt socket than all would be well, but the lamp will be dim.

      What DAD said, though an exploding bulb might depend on what type of bulb - halogen will flash then pop, whilst a LED bulb might go up more violently. However there's a good chance that the LED would trip the RCD in the consumer unit. You don't need a calculator, if you know two of the values you can work out the third by using Ohm's Law. There are 3 basic aspects to electricity - current (I or amps), voltage (V or volts) and power (W or watts).

      I would have trouble describing these, but you could liken electricity to a fluid running through a pipe..

      Current is like the viscosity of the fluid
      Voltage is like the pressure of the fluid, or the speed through the pipe
      Power is a measurement of the heat dissipated through the pipe.

      V = W/I (power divided by current = voltage)
      I = W/V (power divided by voltage = current)
      W = VxI (voltage multiplied by current = power)

      Example: A 3000 watt fan heater, divided by 240 volt mains = 12.5 amps, so you would plug the heater into a 13 amp socket.

      The same applies to selecting resistor values. The formula for that is V = I/R, where R is resistance in Ohms.

      V= I/R hence I= V/R so using 35% more voltage than intended will cause 35% more current, and hence more heat, than the filament is designed for. Made worse because filament resistance is dependent on temperature during warmup.

      The following video will shock you James - I've actually been through it with my mother this year. The hospital put her on their 'care pathway' but didn't factor in me. It got to the point where I threatened to call the police (as others have) if they put certain 'medications' into her veins. My mother recovered because I fed her and made sure that she drank enough fluids. This will make your piss boil:

      The pro-mRNA promoters are running an experimental trial but now they really do not want the usual unjabbed control group around, proving that the whole thing is a monumental scam supported by corrupt/gullible medical policy makers, politicians, media, and so on and on.
      When people find out what has been done to them and their families they are not going to be too chuffed.
      There is only so much room on those wee island retreats.
      And their unchuffedness might well be taken out on the un-jabbed as well.
      Because, well, you know, they must have known and why did they not warn us?
      So no gloating.

    What countries use domestic electricity supplies at 34Volts and 48Volts?
    Suspending disbelief, the 34 Volt bulb/ lamp will shine very brightly for a very short time unless the 48 Volt socket is protected by 3 amp fuse/circuit breaker.

      I think the question applies to a string of Christmas lights plugged into a transformer. I could be wrong. However, that would beg the question, is the 48 volts of the socket referring to the output or the capacity. If capacity that would mean up to 48 volts and it would be fine to plug in a 34 volt lamp, but best to give the standard safety conscious response in the absence of proper info.

    If Cassandra really means 34 & 48 volts then I doubt a filament bulb would explode, as it's "only" a 25% over voltage scenario. But are we talking about a "String" of Christmas lights (wired in series), or just a single lamp? If the latter it will most probably operate (very brightly) for a few seconds, then burn out. 12v in a 24v socket would be more spectacular, and with LED's the driver circuit won't last long: capacitors can fill a room with small confetti-like foil pieces when they fail - don't ask how I know...

    What interests me is the 34 volt rating. I've not heard of anything using that over here - 12 & 24v are common, 48 less so, generally being the preserve of large battery banks running "Off Grid" inverter setups. Anyone using these would find it easier to drop down to 12 or 24v to run lighting directly, as lamps and high efficiency converters are readily available.
