IN A spirit of reconciliation, I wish Liz Truss God speed. There is much to be done. I take her at her word that her Government will be a small one, weaving a distinct path from the regulatory EU Leviathan and one where the state concentrates on freeing the people to grow the pie, not redistributing an ever smaller one.

I have argued that the challenges facing this country go well beyond the economic, and perhaps the key is to control the runaway state that, despite accounting for almost half the entire economy and regulating into every nook and cranny of life, is generally unbelievably incompetent in what it does. 

In almost all respects, everything the State touches falters quickly into failure, overspend, regulatory slight and queues.

2.  Wondering, you know

... about a couple of things Vox said at the end of the link which is at the foot of the previous post.  One was about the main post theme - triggering.  Another was a quick point thrown in about Spacebunny, his lil chickadee, where he addressed whether she even exists.

Um ... am I missing something here?  Of course she exists:

I don't really understand the point there.  Anyway, the mind wandered, as it does these days, and I was thinking what were my happiest eras ... maybe you could reflect on that too.

Well ... so what were mine?  Overall, childhood was pretty good, secondary was better, my first real, full on gf where she ... gulp ... actually said yes was pretty good, followed by my first bad era after she said 'no  more' ... that seemed to usher in an empty time for years, including that awful house-sharing time alluded to in the previous post ... never want to repeat that, never want to live with others again, forlorn hope, that was pretty awful.

The full on female era was a mixed bag, highs and lows, the highs edged the lows I think, then the later female era in my 40s/50s ... mixed again.  This era right now, this moment ... pretty good I'd say, no complaints right now, I like our company at N.O. and around the net is nice ... why fix what ain't broke?  Mind you, that's partly because of nice food here to cook up today ... simple pleasures, contact from those close to me, I hope.
