Saturday [7 to 9]

Brekky time … bacon butties.

9.  All my birthdays

Guess what?  The parcel meant to arrive in October arrived today … my mate’s footstool, perfect size, also doubles as a step-up step-down exercise thingy.  Plus the bacon butty and shiraz were the goods for brunch.

8.  Phantom Digger

[Big things going down worldwide, chaps and chapesses.]

a.  China rumours and counter-rumours.

[i] "Something big is going on in China. Allegedly 6,000 flights have been canceled -- or %60 of flights according to the Epoch Times. Major military movements toward Beijing. Rumors coming out of Asia of either house arrest / coup against Xi Jinping OR consolidation of power. Let's see what happens. “PLA military vehicles heading to Beijing on Sep 22. Starting from Huanlai County near Beijing & ending in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, entire procession as long as 80 KM. Meanwhile, rumor has it that Xi Jinping was under arrest after CCP seniors removed him as head of PLA”

[ii] "It was the exact opposite of a coup:

“High-ranking cadres are sentenced to severe punishment for corruption. A warning to political opponents, a few weeks before the party congress. The biggest wave of purges within China's power apparatus in recent years came to a spectacular end on Friday:

Sun Lijun, former Deputy Minister of Public Security, was sentenced to death, with the sentence suspended for two years and then commuted to life imprisonment target.” …Sun is accused of having formed an opposition “clique” as the leading head, which has positioned itself against state & party leader Xi Jinping.

Former Minister of Justice Fu Zhenghua, who was also sentenced to life imprisonment for corruption on Thursday, is said to have belonged to the political clique. …the police chiefs of Shanghai, Chongqing and Shanxi, who were sentenced to long prison terms this week…six leading cadres from the Chinese security apparatus were hit”

7.  Remiss if I don’t note this

ISAAC Smith had already cemented his legacy as a triple-premiership player with Hawthorn, but the Geelong wingman has carved out a new place for himself in the game's history as a Norm Smith medallist.

The tireless veteran, whose move to Geelong as a free agent came late in his career as a 31-year-old, produced a special Grand Final performance on Saturday to defy both his age and history. At 33, he is the oldest player to win the award for best on ground.

He was among the chief architects of the early onslaught that set up Geelong's 10th flag, and a driving force through the 'premiership quarter'. A powerful runner, he keeps motoring late in quarters and late in games.

Part of the powerful Hawthorn team that beat Geelong in big finals in 2013 and 2014, Smith has endeared himself to his new fans and will now be remembered with great fondness when his career eventually ends.

There’s far more than this for the club.  With the communist system in place, clubs are banned from recruiting, there is a national recruitment day each year and the AFL metes out the best player recruits to the lowliest clubs, penalising winning.

The Cats got around it by recruiting free agent players, worn out, washed up stars of yesteryear, then giving them a new lease of life, the club’s known for it.  Thus, Geelong becomes a go-to team for any with a choice.  The Cats have always been accused of being a “foreign legion” and I say so what?  Anyone giving the oldies a second chance is ok in my book.

Hi James, Geelong 'Cats' have won the AFL Final against Sydney Swans. Have a glass of el Vino Collapso sir. (I am not an AFL fan, m'self, but hey....)

Vino Collapso well in hand here, kind sir. 🤪
