Thu 12a. Of course it's deliberate, and been planned for deacades. Before I retired I had a small but reasonable self invested pension scheme and we had built up what was then an adequate buffer of savings. Over the past decade the deliberate policy of QE and artificially low interest rates has halved the value of both. Now the BOE take action because the corporate pension schemes are screaming that they can't afford the nice gold plated inflation linked promises! As far as I'm concerned my sympathy is zero, people like me, who worked to be self reliant and secure, have been getting deliberately short changed and had our prosperity raided for years, now it's their turn.
