The Empress Matilda

Unfortunately, the only full-on histories of the Empress Matilda are presented these days by feminazis, with all the Wokery and claptrap you’d expect.

Wiki’s not bad on the story concerning the 19 years of Stephen and there are other references here and there.

Leaving the story itself aside, more fascinating to me was how she allowed Stephen off after capture, he’d done the same with her, the barons did not wish to fight one another … and then there was her character.

I’ve had this notion for decades now that is related to The Fall and the mating with human females, creating a race of demi-mortals who tend to win through and rule ... fanatical, dog-eat-dog, walking over their own grandmothers.  In fact, just the type of people Svali described in 2000.  Think she said something like these people cut their eye teeth on viciousness and pitilessness … except of course towards their own.

The idea’s oft been reprised in Sci-Fi sagas and fantasy.

Growing up, I’d never seen Matilda this way … just as bad as the rest of her brood … it was more as a used and abused girl, manipulated by Geoffrey … there was that escape from the tower, was there not, clad in white?

In short, I never saw her before as a … monster.  And in that light, also check out Isabella and her hubby Edward II.

Going to stop here as we have four females coming up in our regular spot and that would be overdoing it.
