  3. The saddest thing is not the lack of knowledge, that's accepted. What strikes at my heart is that they just won't say "I don't know". They're terrified of admitting lack of knowledge. The ability to say 'I don't know' is one of the greatest freedoms.

    3. You can't be an MP and hold an office under the Crown at the same time, so they ask to be given the office of warden of of the Chiltern Hundreds which makes ineligible to sit in Parliament.

    A retirement scheme for duff mps. Originally a "hundred" was a lot of money to receive every month. And of course it was guineas.
