Short break to climb back in bed and read.

a.  Sore-Arse's man on the inside Jake Sullivan - National Security Advisor to Faux Joe.

From jus security's about page.

"We are grateful for support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies, Open Society Foundations, Global Institute for Advanced Study at New York University, Atlantic Philanthropies, New York University School of Law, and individual donors."

b.  Update on friend's 50 yr old son with Crohn's disease double-jabbed then hospitalised with covid and developed sepsis. The infection started in his spleen. He was sent home - still not out of the woods - the medics advised he was safer at home because there were less chances of further infections at home than there would be if he remained in hospital.

Spleen - "It’s part of the lymphatic system (which is part of the immune system). The spleen stores and filters blood and makes white blood cells that protect you from infection." Taken from Cleveland Clinic website.

Make of that what you will.

8.  For those still recovering from Burns Night

... this explanation by Doonhamer:
Catching haggis. You are doing it wrong.

The haggis is a strange wee beastie. It has evolved to safely traverse the steep hillsides of its natural habitat.

The two legs on the down hill side are longer than the two legs on the up hillside. Thus the cute wee beastie can maintain a level head while pursuing its prey, the great highland midgie.

Of course there are two almost separate species of haggis, the clockwise and the anti-clockwise. Normally they are bitter enemies and if they meet on a haggis trail will charge each other repeatedly until one turns and runs, whereupon the loser tumbles down the hill because of inappropriate leg lengths.

The haggis hunter lies in wait beside a haggis trail hidden by a rock. The hunter will have already deployed a snare net just beside the haggis trail on the down hill side.

When the hunter hears the haggis approaching with its soft heedrum hodrum song, he jumps out and shouts "neeps n tatties" - which is the worst thing a haggis can hear. It's senses scrambled, it turns to run but of course, falls and tumbles into the snare net. A responsible hunter will release undersized and pregnant examples.

Above it states that the CW and the ACW are bitter enemies but love knows no limits and sometimes a mating occurs. For results I refer you to Misalliance by those great botanists, Flanders and Swann.
There ye go.

7.  Only a woman writes like this
Heaven smells like the fragrant clouds of lime blossom in June. Every year I look forward to this honeyed herald of summer.

During the summer of 2020 I had a surprising and visceral reaction to my first smell of lime blossom, as my stomach twisted with grief.

Scent, emotion and memory are intrinsically connected.
Thank goodness for the ladies, say I for one.  Another I know is talking about 'pin and tuck' in fabric for a new wedding dress ... and so on.  It's a world I know little of but I do know it must continue to exist.  And ladies should know of these things.  But leave off, please, with the climate scam.

6.  Violent, oppressive and offensive cults

... have no place in civilised society er must be wildly celebrated, let's all go outside and clap.  Phew, avoided a takedown by a woman applied switch or a body part chop er sorry, sorry, by this fantastic allo snackbar cult er burn in cages er wonderful cult.

The President of Croatia has gone rogue!

He's trying to prevent war over Ukraine.

    and in response to that:

"they put the president of croatia on myrotvorets, threatening an EU/NATO president by putting him on their blacklist, which has meant death threats and worse for others."
