It just struck me across the chops that not everyone lived through the 80s and therefore you might not know of this character. I was certainly not living in the 80s.
Nutshell - some people envisaged a computer generated host to link videos, a bit like MTV, but other influences were Network, Blade Runner and cyberpunk, he was the perfect choice but then it needed a back story pilot movie to establish him.
His appearances on talk shows which he's viciously parodying and his acceptance by them was beyond bizarre but hey, Max had ratings and ratings are everything. That Coke would use him as the face of its new taste also presaged his own demise.
Did the networks wake up to the joke, was it that the new writers just weren't as good, was it just an idea with a limited shelf life? Seriously insulting celeb guests - how far could that go?
I loved it.
13. We may be out of politics just now, let's try this
I've just had a text from a friend at the bowls club inviting me to join his team for a competition next year. I said that I may be back bowling next season but to bear in mind that I have declined the wossname, restrictions may apply. He replied that things will be back to normal then. It goes to show how I'll informed people are, how blind they are to what's going to happen in the next few months.
