[late evening listening] sade

Judging by the last Sade piece, she's not all that popular or her style of singing is not so this evening's piece is clearly just something I like and that's that. Sometimes one has to do these things.

  1. Well then, here's something I just like, for some other evening.

  2. As a member of the crowd at the original Live Aid I remember thinking that when Sade came on was a good time to go for a pee. So did 20,000 other men.

She is rarely played or mentioned even on the 80's shows yet the Diamond Life album had 5 well deserved stars from rolling stone.

There's a spot of explanation on the Nigeness blog.

  5. Diamond Life was, and still is, a classic. Alas, it was the 'yuppie' album of choice, and is thus fated to be associated with a particular time.

However, the 'yoof' tell me that the '80s are back in style, so perhaps I can dig that album out again.

Still couldn't bring myself the drive a 3 series beemer, however, they're still hairdressers cars ;-)

  6. That's all rather interesting. As that was my era of marriage and similar fun activities, perhaps we didn't analyse what we were listening to so much.

I'm slowly facing the horror that we might have been yuppies ourselves but as I didn't drive a Beamer, except in Canada, we couldn't have been ... could we?

I drove an Accord and my custom car. Does that count? Before that, it was a lowly but reliable souped up Beetle with 8 inch wheels and flared guards.
