Sigh. The lure of afternoon tea in good company - it's sheer delight. But which venues for that exquisite experience would you suggest could be added to this global list? Where have you had an unforgettable afternoon [or even morning] tea?
Thisis one of my favorites :-)
ReplyDeleteI was tossing up whether to put in Betty's, as it is my old stomping ground around that way but then I thought I'd go international.
ReplyDeleteLater I'll do a series of Britain's best.

ReplyDeleteThe Royal Winchester Hotel have the most incredible garden to take tea. In fact, I said to my Mum 'Cherie would love to be here and photograph this garden. ' :)
ReplyDeleteRight in the middle of a bustling city, and behind the hotel, was the most glorious secret garden which was a feast for the eyes.
An old Mill near me was turned into a teahouse many years ago with another such garden. It's like going back to an earlier age.
alas, I cannot name any; I live in a cultural desert.... :)
ReplyDeleteOne of the best morning tea times for me was almost 40 years ago in the wilderness area of the Uinta Mountains. I had backpacked in, hadn't seen another human in two days, and was sitting next to a small campfire sipping some Oolong tea and watching deer sporting in a nearby meadow as the sun came up. I had found a wild strawberry patch the night before, and was snacking on them with my tea and wheat crackers. It was one of those magic moments you remember the rest of your life.
ReplyDelete.....inta mountains. OK, got all that down and RWH - right, I know where I'm headed next.

ReplyDeleteThe Windsor Hotel in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia is a delightful place for high afternoon tea. The stained glass windows, furniture, service and general ambience of this hotel - not to mention the food - make it an indulgent destination for whiling away a winter's afternoon. Having said that - I've just returned from Victoria, Canada (oddly enough) and high afternoon at the Empress, Fairmont Empress Hotel, is pretty special too. Book in advance, and ask for a window seat with a harbour view. Mind you the food is better at the Windsor in my home town! Robyn, Melbourne
