ReplyDeleteDenim comes from Nimes in France. It is a contraction of "serge de Nimes"
ReplyDeleteFitzRoy used to be Finisterre. It was renamed to avoid confusion with the
ReplyDeleteSpanish headland of the same name (literally, 'the end of the world').
