[rough justice] they don't muck around downunder

Students went on the rampage in the city so:

An exclusive Melbourne boys school has suspended its entire year 12 group after end-of-year high jinx resulted in one student being taken to hospital and complaints of drunken, disruptive behaviour by neighbours.

This is in the period coming up to exams and at Year 12 level, that's not so good. There'll be a lot of bleeding-heartedness over this but the swot-vac is almost upon schools now anyway so it is not as dire as it seems. However, I'm a bit concerned about the drunken, disruptive behaviour by the neighbours reported here. Surely they need to set an example to the young tykes.

  1. James, Xavier is one of the most expensive private, boys school in Melbourne.
Just because it is 'Muck up' day does not mean that a child needs to be injured with multiple leg fractures.
The same boy was victimized and injured last year, in which the student was filmed being pushed upside down into a wheelie bin while students looked on and yelled jeers and abuse.
I think the principal was right to suspend the whole year level, just to show that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in future years.
Boys do not behave like this in middle class and lower class areas ... some boys from rich families have extreme attitude problems and think they are above school rules.
When my children were doing year 12 the Principal advised that any student who were disruptive or vandalized property during Muck up day, would not be allowed to sit for exams. There were no drunken or violent incidents.
These students really got off lightly.
