[housekeeping] blogrolls and reader

A glance at my Blogrolls shows a not unsubstantial list of top bloggers and it's been problematic how to deal with the list, given real life, et al.

I've almost finished transferring from the Reader [don't know if the link works] to the roll and vice versa but to bring them into line has been a one by one job, including renaming. Already some bloggers have noticed more visits and that is only going to increase now the Reader's working again.

Can't wait for the day when I'm able to get round the whole roll every day but that can only be with the Reader.

What cunning method do you use?

UPDATE: 18:50 London time - just been to every blog on the roll via Reader. Good stuff.

  1. Yesterday I discovered I had already set up a Google Reader but now I don't know how to get back there ... or how to comment from it.

  3. i use the 'don't visit' method :)

I get my main link list and return visits I find on sitemeter.

I used to attempt to hit all the rolls, but never got any return out of it so... heh

  4. I dont expect any return from linking to blogs i like. Its a easy way to get to where i want to be. And its not like im some great literary writer or anything.
Im just happy to have my blog and meet a few nice people out of it.

  5. I don't have any system like a reader or bloglines. The Blogpower blogroll and my own blogroll serve well enough and I just click links at random, often. I usually visits those who makes comments too.

  8. I'm like Kate. While it is set up, I find I really like to just meander around some of the many blogs that I like.

I have set up Blogpower as tabs in Firefox and open 15 at a time and read them all. That works like Google Reader and you get to visit the blogs themselves.

  9. I'm with you Bunny, I have no idea. I just go to those on my links , then every now and then I shall go for a wander and look around at links others have.

  10. This is google reader:

    Google Reader.

It allows you to add all your favourite blogs and other websites. You can see which posts are new and preview them all on one page.

  11. I prefer bloglines myself although I have google reader set up as well.

Bloglines has the advantage that when you click on a blog it disappears afterwards and resets itself at zero.
Google reader has the advantage of keeping all the posts forever but not resetting to zero unless you mark all the posts as read. Very cumbersome extra step to my way of thinking.

I have 240 blogs in bloglines. Obviously I am selective who I visit every day and some are once a week or so only. So many good blogs out there and so little time, even for retired folk.

I must investigate what CC is talking about.

  13. Thanks all. Thanks Cherie, for answering Nunyaa and Bunny.

The Reader is a good device but you still need to go into those sites physically to give the blogger his/her stats.
