[winehouse] place to get paralytic?

Little bit of brilliance from The Nameless One [f-word toned down for this blog]:

Bag lady in waiting Amy Winehouse wins Grammys but can’t attend the award ceremony. Why? Because she’s a f-cking junkie. End of story. So let’s hear no more about this woman until there is actually something newsworthy.

I always thought a winehouse was for bibbers but apparently not. Genius? Becoming a junkie?

  1. I second Welshcakes. The girl is down- she doesn't need kicking.

  2. There are many girls down, creative girls too and they can't articulate their troubles.

These need support too but they don't make a career out of their lifestyle or troubles.

  3. It's too bad she has problems; she has a good voice for blues.

  4. Yes, she's in a bad way, let's hope she can pull out of it.

  5. For the last year the London evening [free] papers have hardly posted an edition without a piece on Amy Winehouse and her antics. I think I speak for every Londoner when I say we are sick to death of reading of her.

    I wonder why?

  6. But she has such a great, soulful voice, and voices like that don't come out of nothing.

Send the girl love. She needs it.

  7. I've been listening to her CD quite a lot of recently as I heard her for the first time only last month (impulse buy in Edinburgh). She doesn't seem to play on US radio stations. Thankfully I'm also oblivious to what's going on in her life, perhaps enables me to enjoy the music more? She reminds me of Edith Piaf. How's the valentines shopping coming along?

  8. I wondered when someone would mention Piaf. The ladies seems generally to be for her and the gents against. Interesting.

  9. Here in the U.S. she's a relatively recent phenomenon, and we haven't grown tired of the antics that come along with it yet.

That said, now that she's a Big Deal it's the cool thing not to go with the mainstream, but I genuinely like her music and think she's massively talented. It's just too bad she can't pull it together.
