[martin scriblerus] here's an example for you

The joke is on Madeley because that is precisely the type we're looking for - the unclubbable free spirit. That's why it's not a club, Richard. You're entangled now, my boy. :)

By the way, do you like the right aligned text? No?

  1. Is the Martin Scriblerus thing a badge or a club? If the latter, does it have the castigation of Dulness as its object?

  2. Definitely not a club. It's an idea which is slowly forming, that's all. At the moment, we're just calling for ideas.

  3. Sackerson thinks exactly as I. Do you know the Steve Martin routine when he gets the audience to repeat after him something like 'I promise to be a free spirit and never to follow other people'? However, if I am to be part of this affiliation, there would have to be a much improved logo. I'll see if I can come up with something involving a donkey.

  4. Richard, I feel a comment coming on after a statement like that.

  5. Yes, that did sound a bit Carry On. I meant, of course, a logo with a donkey on it, given that the Dunciad has a picture of an ass. Does that sound better? I'll see if I can come up with something involving an ass? How about a braying mule?

  6. Too Democratic. If we're going to use American emblems, how about a skunk, since it defends itself in a non-lethal way?

  7. The skunk is as Democratic as anything: can't do anything except raise an occasional stink. *sigh*

  8. Richard - I think your kick-ass idea is a good one.
