[tea parties] taking back the nation

Mind you, it's a pity to see such lovely tea go to waste.

Why can't we do things like this?

Local citizens played a part in the presentation as well: About 30 children led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, a man dressed as Patrick Henry gave the founding father's famous speech ending in "give me liberty or give me death," and another shared a song he wrote expressing a need to retake the country.

"It was a very powerful and moving program. It was an opportunity for people to come together who are like minded and speak out about their feelings about spending in Washington, the raising of the debt," event organizer Steve Owen said. "We're all for limiting government and we see the government exploding. And this was a great time for people to come out and come together."

What is it with us? I'm sure we don't lack courage - there was that little matter of the Empire, you know - but has the socialization of Britain gone so far that none dare speak up for reprisals, for fear of one's job? What is it? Is it that people feel there's actually nothing wrong and the high-tax, debt-ridden society is actually more comforting than a brave new world of free enterprise?

Please tell me. There must be many others like me who simply will not sit down and shut up while iniquities are being perpetrated on us.

  1. I think that last little word of your post is the crucial one James: "us". I don't think it is clear what that means any more, in many if not most countries of the world. Society is fragmenting into groups of like-minded people that cross frontiers and span the globe (and I am ambivalent about whether that is a good or bad thing). Sticking with the mindset of "nations" ignores the complexity. Maybe we finally need to accept that "us" means all humans, and begin trying to row just a little bit more together in this big boat we are in, spinning through space. Not that I expect that to happen anytime while I am on board.

  2. The major difference between here and the US is that the US was founded on revolutionary principles so they have a tradition of standing up against the state hard-wired into their consciousness and their basic law. For instance the Second Amendment proclaims the right to bear arms, not for hunting or self-defence but to enable the people to throw out the government if it becomes tyrannical. In America, the people are sovereign and as such can make demands. In this country they're nothing of the kind.

    Andrew Scott,

you are right that we should see all humanity as our brothers and sisters (although you didn't quite say this), but then what? Our primary political concern in this country should be how we are governed and under what laws we are to live. These things are our responsibility.

As a libertarian, I believe in the sovereignty of the individual. On a grander scale I believe in the sovereignty of the nation state for much the same reasons, both philosophical and pragmatic. Our responsibility as a sovereign individual or nation is to keep our own house in order.

  3. Couldn't agree more about the sovereignty of the individual. It is everything.

  4. Remember, though, what the original Tea Party was about. A bunch of tea-smugglers was protesting at the cut in the import duty on tea which was making it impossible for them to compete with the legitimate importer.

Like so much else concerning American independence, young Americans are indoctrinated with untruths about the business, and few bother to think critically about it in adult life.

  5. Herewith

Waffle about ethics all you wish.

Tea parties are irrelevant, however interpreted.

The PTB have no ethics, so they are deaf.

    Also understand

    This

    and

    This

Taking back the nation will be more difficult this time.

Identifying the various factions would be to identify the vast majority of politicians and financiers, and various "complexes"

And the country functions in the meantime???

The current president and his administration are an integral part of the problem.

Obama is a smooth operating bare faced liar, -his wife has been a member for years, and he was groomed by them

  6. I think that our problem is we need a leader to stand up and trigger action here. Others will follow but nobody wants to be first in line.

  7. Dearieme,

still pushing your pro-King George tripe, I see.

"The East India company, who till that time had never sent a pound of tea to America on their own account, step forth on that occasion the asserters of parliamentary right, and send hither many ship loads of that obnoxious commodity. The masters of their several vessels however, on their arrival in America, wisely attended to admonition, and returned with their cargoes. In the province of New England alone the remonstrances of the people were disregarded, and a compliance, after being many days waited for, was flatly refused. Whether in this the master of the vessel was governed by his obstinacy or his instructions, let those who know, say. There are extraordinary situations which require extraordinary interposition. An exasperated people, who feel that they possess power, are not easily restrained within limits strictly regular. A number of them assembled in the town of Boston, threw the tea into the ocean and dispersed without doing any other act of violence. If in this they did wrong, they were known, and were amenable to the laws of the land, against which it could not be objected that they had ever in any instance been obstructed or diverted from their regular course in favor of popular offenders. They should therefore not have been distrusted on this occasion. But that illfated colony had formerly been bold in their enmities against the house of Stuart, and were now devoted to ruin by that unseen hand which governs the momentous affairs of this great empire. On the partial representations of a few worthless ministerial dependants, whose constant office it has been to keep that government embroiled, and who by their treacheries hope to obtain the dignity of the British knighthood, without calling for a party accused, without asking a proof, without attempting a distinction between the guilty and the innocent, the whole of that antient and wealthy town is in a moment reduced from opulence to beggary."

  8. "To save the failing British East India Company, [Parliament] passed the Tea Act, giving the company a monopoly on the sale of tea to the colonies, cutting out our honest American merchants and smugglers alike. The enraged colonists retaliated by refusing to allow the tea to be off-loaded in American ports.

On December 16, 1773, 150 men dressed as Mohawks boarded three British chips in Boston Harbor and,, as thousands watched, dumped the cargo of tea overboard."

  9. OK, let's clear up this last point once and for all. Obama said, in the vid, "I don't see any conspiracy to create this North American Union."

Those were his words. Right, look at this document.

It is the CFR's policy document on the North American Union.

OK, now go to this site. It states clearly, in order to undercut criticism that the U.S.A. has no say in its demolition, that the SPPNA is a "White House driven initiative".

Now, are you telling me that Obama, on assuming the presidency from George Bush who was present at that March 23rd, 2005 meeting and who agreed with the other leaders on the terms, that Obama knows absolutely nothing about it?

Furthermore, he leapt, himself, Obama did, to calling it a "conspiracy". Look at the bloody site! Obama has a meeting with Harper, for goodness sake.

Now I'm not saying that that was nefarious but I am saying that for Obama to claim he knew nothing about a "conspiracy" is a barefaced lie to the audience.

    Therefore, when Anon says:

"Obama is a smooth operating bare faced liar, -his wife has been a member for years, and he was groomed by them,"

Then he is speaking only the facts of the matter.

As for the actions of the financiers - check this out.

The proof is there, the horse has been led to water. Now he only has to drink.

  10. "Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it -- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

  11. This is the notorious Table 19 of the BIS

Note the figures are in Billions, therefor the figure at the top of "Dec 2008" is 591 trillion $

The annual GDP of the entire world is around only $50T and falling, only 10% of OTC derivatives, the "shadow banking system"

These derivatives seek to control everything, from the price of oil, all foodstuffs, price of gold, and national and international interest rates

The producers of SIVs, referred to by Jim Sinclair in the links I gave above, have likely covered their ass by writing appropriate CDSs. But how can that be a fair contract to both parties, when one party, the writing party, is party to another contract related to an upcoming event, and the other party, the counter party, is not.

This is the reason for OTC, they are unique contracts, with no reasonable price discovery, and cannot therefor occur on an exchange. They are inherently fraudulent. The entire issue is inherently fraudulent, TOXIC.
And uniquely toxic. Very little netting can be done!

The taxpayer is on the hook, the choice is bailout the financiers again, and fry the $ and taxpayers, but create a massive asset bubble, or bankrupt the finance world and create an equity collapse.

  12. Saudi is part financing civil insurrection in Yemen.

Retaliatory suicide bombs have been targeting various Saudi princes.

    Lots of instability.

Black swan event?, --- or will it be Israel vs Iran.

If Saudi states it will sell oil in other currencies, then the $ will lose a lot of reserve currency status.

    Israel vs Iran....

The PTB NEED a Black Swan, right now, they need one badly, they are backed into a corner of their own making, they need time......

    Another false flag event?...

  14. The uncritical repetition of untruthful political propaganda rather makes my point about so many Americans clinging the indoctrination of their childhoods.

  15. dearieme,

what's up? Did your family have shares in the East India Company or something?

'uncritical repetition'. At least I've backed up my position with sources. All you can do is sneer with pretended superiority.
