It looked like one of those Soviet show trials from the thirties. Why didn't the chairmen and chief execs say they based their strategies on the wildly optimistic forecasts and track record of the greatest chancellor of the exchequer ever in the world? If boom and bust had indeed been solved only a fool would be cautious and plan for a rainy day.
Strikes me as an excercise in getting the Labour Government off the hook.
ReplyDeleteAlso allows people to blame the bankers when a lot of this was down to normal (greedy) people wanting that big house and car they couldn't afford.
