I’d not worry about the hyperbole at the start … to that poor sod on that farm, it IS  the most important atory in America … and not just to him. These salami tactics of govt officials is just like the plight of Arthur Dent.

To many it likely seemed that Bakhmut would never end - and then, suddenly, it did.  Bakhmut, like most high-intensity urban battles, exemplifies the apocalyptic potential of modern combat. Intense bombardment reduced large portions of the city to rubble, lending the impression that Wagner and the AFU were not so much fighting over the city as its carcass.

Right, yes, worth a read … but maybe not on substack.  I’ve been evaluating substack in terms of my own use of it and not sure I like their model. They clearly operate on a proliferation model, urging, urging, urging to link and refer to others … I’m not interested in that.

Always interested in others in the field of course, don’t get me wrong, fellow bloggers and all that … just couldna be bothered with the model and the obstacles it places in the way of even reading a simple post … or simply reading a post. It’s offputting.
