Saturday [1 to 5]

(0614) Morning all. Sun’s out but your humble blogger is decidedly wonky, like those vegetables. More in item 2 today. (0734)

5.  IYE has

Revealed – Bill Gates’s younger Russian ‘lover’ and her links to notorious Kremlin spy Anna Chapman. The Microsoft tycoon’s links to Epstein are troubling enough. But now our investigation asks: Was he drawn into the scandal over Moscow’s bid to infiltrate the rich and powerful in the West?

4.  DAD has

Finally, Our Beloved President, Emmanuel Macron has angered the country’s left after seemingly echoing Renaud Camus, the right-wing author famous for popularising the idea of the “great replacement”.

{The Left in France (and UK) have Faux Anger against anything and everything. They do not seem to be able to disagree with something, they must rage about it}

3.  Toodles has done a review

… of Toll of the Sea, including gems like:

Several take aways from the story. The little boy named after his honourable father (not) was an amazing little actor. Shocking. Shirley Temple had not a thing on this little fella! How did the director get him to emote and behave in the manner for just what was needed? He was really something else...the little boy.

Also lotus Blossom was  very good in the part. Her pain was palpable.

… and:

The man - Allen, and the other men advising him are the reason Westerners and Americans are ill received and thought of by decent folk around the world if, if they behaved as he and the other Western men did in the film.

Such a low and depraved character did the (dis)honorable husband display in the story. Shame. Shame. Shame.  He eventually tries the same way of courting wife N2 as he did with LB. One trick pony. If it works why not? She too was innocent and unassuming. She however was able to travel in the right circles.”

As I wrote back … her reviews are fabulous, Toods is an inveterate movie watcher, vast store of knowledge, plus she can cut to the chase, as our patrons tend to. BS withers and dies. But she weaves in so much family history that I have no permission, no right, to print it … yet it’s integral to our understanding of the topic.

2.  Housekeeping (the tedious item)

a.  Given that none of us are getting younger, we have to do as the bod or the medical convention tells us … or maybe others who’ve experienced things.  Trouble is, most of us are stoic when the chips are down, we go quiet, withdraw. All I’m going to say is that the purple feet have now become bod coloured again today, thanks. The heart says … I’ll give you limited room to pretend to be still young but there are limits.

Last evening was one of those, I’m sure brought on by no sleep the night before. Gotta have that sleep, no two ways. Had it but still tired and yet I’m eating well. Nuff of that.

b.  Blogwise, ideally it should run without us but we do have that security issue. Bear in mind I’m a reader too, so if I visit, say, AKH or Mark from Mayenne, moderation is necessary, I do see that, their attitude is benign, I know they’ll click me through sooner or later … but it’s still a nuisance, as it is with you.

And with ggl, there’s a certain grace given, given the type of material and type of commenter on both sides. There’s a fine balance I’m loathe to alter, unsatisfactory though it might be.

I’d like to thank readers, patrons and contributors once again … this item below is invaluable to have here, plus it’s a lot of work, I should know. So thanks, chaps and chapesses.

c.  Back to health

(i) I group my ailments under two headings … “core” and “usual ups and downs”.  Usual ups and downs includes the lurgy … last evening was core, needed attending to and glad I did.

(ii) I noticed talk of seeds, flax etc. What I’ve been reading and noting is to steer clear of both rapeseed oil, plus seeds on the whole. Nuts are different. Olive oil, XV, works for me in small doses.  I’ve taken to reading packets carefully now, having a little if what I like but in moderation. Been fighting fit in fact.

d.  Alter the blog format? Put in an Open Forum thingy? As some of us said … unnecessary, there’s ample opportunity, as long as my attitude stays the same.  Plus I see DAD just came in … the notices ticker works a treat. Best see what folk are up to.

  2. re #2: I've had lower leg troubles and been advised to use 'flight socks' - I wore some yesterday and had a good day moving about - the compression over the whole lower leg seems to be v. helpful.
