If they remove trees will CO2 levels go up? And if so then what?
ReplyDeleteThe barstool in Plymouth who ordered the massacre was Tory living no doubt in a nice tree-lined avenue.
The left hand knoweth no what the right hand doeth. You have one group planting trees because of climate change and another negating what they are doing bt cutting them down. I assume it has something to do with all the boat invaders that keep on landing down south - round them up and send them back to where they came from.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why trees in urban areas are being felled but wonder if cash strapped councils see their value. There has been a huge increase in home fires and stoves recently which has caused the retail price of logs to almost double. A large mature tree could have a value of hundreds of pounds. After selling off all the family silver, are they now reduced to selling off the wood?
DeleteRise in C02 justifies 15 min cities in their twisted minds. Money from the timber is a bonus.
DeleteIn defense of councils (I can't believe I would ever write that!) I suspect the culprits are often insurance companies who refuse to cover the risk of storm or root damage. There was a fuss near here some years back with a huge old tree (with TPO) in the garden of a house being sold. The prospective housebuyer couldn't get his mortgage sorted because the insurance refused to cover risk from the tree and the council refused to allow it to be cut down. It finally got sorted - tree is still there - but was quite a local issue.
