You know, there’s a case for being a bit eccentric, rather than straight down the line. “Straight down the line” is to see the full horror and the odds. I say bah to odds … the bstds do make errors. I believe there’s a God who does affect events.
As for Them, the fiends, their deprivations and abuse of their responsibilities first toughen us up (not a bad thing in itself) but then it can lead many down to meanness and sullenness (I saw that in Russia), then to that point the abused reach, then to dissociation. Therefore the mind must retain its sense of proportion. For some of us, it’s faith, which is sorely tested.
I can only say prepare your mind, calmly. And it will rub off on those around you.
