2.  All well and good but I ask yet again

... where are the men?

1.  Mixed feelings about this

For a start, politically, it's well out of order as you know, outrageously so:

If you look at the picture of his family, you can see in the kids' and wife's faces that they are defenceless, almost naive. That sort of artless non-belligerence, expecting others to operate that way towards us draws attention to that "turn the other cheek" dictum, a quite problematic thing.

Starting with a county where law enforcement seems non-existent along equitable lines, the focus then shifts to the father ... his gentle softness.  Reminds me of  that Kenny Rogers song I'm afraid.  In that song, he did eventually beat up the baddies and had held back because of his promise.

In fact, this man Houck is quite courageous in that community in his own way, faced with the mafia who run the town, then the good ole boys who are lawless people, plus the new vile creatures of the Woke left who are lawless people too.

Someone like a Merrick Garland authorised that raid, based on the vile baiting by that creature at Houck's sidewalk thing he does.  Sorry but his son should not have been with him at age 10, just as front line battle is no place for a woman.

That squad which hit the property and terrorised the family ... what goes through those men's minds, pointing guns at kids en masse?  Are they proud of what they did?

And Houck, what of his pushing the baiter away on that sidewalk, which gave the mafia its pretext?  Everyone knows it's wrong for the law to react in that way but what of his turn the other cheek there?  Seems to me that good people in that town needed, en masse, to deal with the Garland plus the good ole boys long before any of this happened.  But they didn't.

Then Houck ... he was always going to be faced with that violent moment but he doesn't train, it's just all too easy for the creeps attacking.  Think Rittenhouse.
