The sound of a plucked string and a hammered string is so very different. One rises to a maximum almost instantaneously, whereas a piano develops more slowly.
Also I wonder at the hubris of someone substituting a piano when a composer (Bach in this instance) has written it especially for a harpsichord.
One harpsichord = beauty.
ReplyDeleteTwo harpsichords = magnificent.
Three harpsichords = sublime.
I'm so used to harpsichord that the piano sounds wrong. I like the first one.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mark.
