Coercion and compulsion

This post would ordinarily be the opener at 5 a.m. but there are too many discussing the topic to run it post-sleep, so here tis.  I saw this one first:

... Corey being a longtime caller-outer of such things:
In many cases, “choosing” to go against these tyrannical, illegal, dangerous “mandates” will not even result in repercussions, yet people still choose the path of least resistance because they fear confrontation and are exhausted by intimidation tactics. They are afraid if they do not wear a mask they will be confronted and possibly yelled at or told to leave the premises, but the reality is, in most cases, that will not happen because the people in the position to start the confrontation suffer from the same fear complex.
People have difficulty with honoring their own moral values, setting boundaries, and taking a stand for their beliefs because they’ve been instructed their entire lives by other people telling them what to do and how to do it. Both sides will rationalize their actions and prostitute their own beliefs to avoid temporary discomfort, with “I’m just doing my job,” or “I know they’re just doing their job and I don’t want to get anyone in trouble.” Saving oneself from the short-term discomfort will bring a long-term control system most won’t be able to endure.

Next was sent to me, can't remember by whom, and it annoyed me a bit with his certainty about things he had no way of being certain about, which he then goes and admits:

The certainty of youth I suppose - look at the url.  However, Vox picked up on it:

... and thus Adam:

Bottom line is that the coercion moving into compulsion is simply not on and thus we are in Thomas More's unenviable position of having strategised and manouevred and rationalised - anything to avoid this dreaded moment where we simply must say no.

There are, of course, various ways - work to rule, use the beast's rules back against itself, going off grid, there are so many ways ... but inevitably, the beast wants this moment to come, it has been angling for it and ratcheting it up the longer we hold out.

Most people who are awake know this deep down and the reactions range from going out with the shotgun against the creeps, even dragging them into the street and dispatching them ... to just knowing they'll have to flatly refuse and accept what's coming.

For me, there's always the spectacle of villages where the Germans reacted savagely to dissent by publicly lynching twenty citizens as a lesson ... and so on.  The global monsters above want this, it's zero to do with a virus.  Every adult must make his or her own quietus, attend to arranging his/her affairs, and then make the stand.
