Complete each verse in turn please

1.  A long, long time agoI can still remember how that music used to make me smile; and I knew if I had my chance that I could make those people dance ???

2.  Every mornin', I would see her waiting at the stop; sometimes she'd shopped and she would show me what she’d bought, all the people stared as if we were both quite insane ???

3.  She said, 'There is no reason' and the truth is plain to see; but I wandered through my playing cards, would not let her be; one of sixteen vestal virgins who were leaving for the coast ???

4.  Outside the barracks, by the corner light, I'll always stand and wait for you at night; we will create a world for two, I'll wait for you the whole night through ???

https://youtu.be/HAfiw-OPBXU

5.  Don't you understand what I'm trying to say, can't you feel the fears I'm feeling today? If the button is pushed, there's no running away, there'll be no one to save with the world in a grave ???

6.  His only pals are the Yellow Lark, just a tiny sparrow, but I'm afraid when he's in the park, he leaves the straight and narrow.  I've raised this bird in a manner so strict ???

7.  Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention; I did what I had to do and saw it through, without exemption; I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway ???

    2. Paul Anka wrote "My Way" -- used to have the sheet music.

    3. Saw the name hovering around the song but didn't know he wrote it. It's a wonder no one shot him.

  2. 1 And maybe they'd be happy for a while. Don McClain, who never recorded anything that one could dance to
2 some day my name and hers are going to be the same. Hollies, Bus Stop. May be the only pop song to have the word 'queue' in it.
3.Procol Harem, Whiter Shade of Pale. Can't recall the next line. Post-Robin Trower. IIRC, descending LH organ part is from a Bach fugue, mentioned en passant in William Gibson's Mona Lisa Overdrive by a virtual character called the Music Master who is so obviously David Bowie it's funny. Good book, BTW
    4 - 6. I'm drawing a blank
    7. is I did it My Way. God I hate that song, with a burning enduring hate. Remember 'Variety Shows', back in the 70s? Every single Ath-Uh-Leet would sing it. Sweet suffering baby Jesus and his seven dwarves, I remember seeing Joe Frazier and Mohammed Ali (still, in my mind, Cassius Clay) 'singing' it in subsequent Sundays. And then the following Sunday Mark Spitz 'sang' it. It was originally shopped to David Bowie, did you know that? He wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot electric cattle prod. I mean, yeah, he did 'Little Drummer Boy' with Bing Crosby. But did you catch him in the Freddy Mercury tribute show? Where he walked onstage, took a knee, and led the audience in The Lord's Prayer?

  3. Not sure if the earlier post caught.
    1. And maybe they'd be happy for a while. Don McClaine, who wrote nothing you could dance to.
2.Some day my name and hers are going to be the same. The Hollies, Bus Stop. Graham Nash's old band.
    3. Though their eyes were wide open, they might just as well be closed. Whiter Shade of Pale, Procol Harem. Post Robin Trower, IIRC. Great axeman, still jamming.
4-6. No idea. Maybe just can't find the scansion.
    7. But much, much more than this, I did it MY WAY. Gawd I hate that song. It was first offered to David Bowie (but you know that) then Frankie took it up as a bit of throwaway filler. He hated it too.

  5. 1. And maybe they'd be happy for a while Did you write the book of love And do you have faith in God above If the Bible tells you so Now do you believe in Rock 'n' roll And can music save your mortal soul
    2. Someday my name and hers are going to be the same
That's the way the whole thing started, Silly but it's true, Thinkin' of a sweet romance , Beginning in a queue
Came the sun the ice was melting, No more sheltering now, Nice to think that that umbrella, Led me to a vow
    3. and although my eyes were open they might have just as well've been closed. She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,' though in truth we were at sea so I took her by the looking glass and forced her to agree
    4. I'll wait for you the whole night through, for you, Lili Marleen, for you, Lili Marleen. Bugle tonight don't play the call to arms, I want another evening with her charms, then we will say goodbye and part,
    5. Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy, And you tell me over and over and over again my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. Yeah, my blood's so mad ...
    6. yet I've a feeling I'm being tricked, my canary has circles under his eyes

I could only remember parts of 1, 2, and 4, so had to search for the rest. no 7 took a while!
