Will the IDF finish the job?

Just a mid-afternoon look at the topic - I've tried to get updates on the Gaza thing and Richard Kemp's seems to be the best report:

During an operation in Gaza last week, the Israel Defence Forces attacked a Hamas tunnel complex with 12 squadrons of 160 combat planes striking over 150 targets with hundreds of bunker-busting JDAMs [Joint Direct Attack Munitions] in less than an hour. Although the battle damage assessment is still underway, the raid destroyed perhaps the most critical element of Hamas infrastructure, wiping out vast stocks of munitions and likely killing dozens if not hundreds of fighters. This was a hammer blow to Hamas and may prove to be a turning point in the conflict. It also sent a powerful message to Iran and Hizballah, foretelling the consequences of an assault on Israel with their arsenal of tens of thousands of missiles in southern Lebanon.

Seems to me that what happened with Donny's peace deal was both sides were happy enough to regroup, Hamas especially, as it enabled them to complete munitions filled tunnels they otherwise would not have. Then in came Biden, meaning the bureaucracy behind him, meaning the Pentagon and munitions firms, and so it was odds on it would flare up again.

Seems to me also that the message is not so much for Hamas as for Iran and Syria.  Wonder if Israel's thought of moving in en masse with cement mixers and rocks, fill the old tunnels and do a proper job of ringfencing underground.

Anyway, we watch and wait.

  1. The Abraham Accords secured Israel. DJT knew what would happen one Faux Joe's handlers, allegedly Susan Rice, took over the reins. If I recall correctly, didn't someone mention recently that Iran was funding Hammas? Think "Iran Deal" resurfacing and all those in Europe who didn't want USA to halt it. Macron, Merkel and May all went scurrying off to try to change DJT's mind early on in his presidency.

Anyhoo, seems IDF got the upper hand by setting a trap. Smart move.

"But Israel’s Channel 12 reported that “the misunderstanding was not in fact a mistake, but a ruse meant to draw Hamas fighters into underground tunnels built by the Gaza-ruling terror group, which the IDF targeted in a massive bombardment overnight.”

The IDF, together with Prime Minister Netanyahu, appears to have used social media to draw Hamas fighters into the tunnels, thus ensuring their deaths — saving the lives of Israeli soldiers in a real invasion, and reducing risk to Palestinian civilians."
