Notes on the double feature earlier

To me, one of the key factors in running/watching a film or not is/are the user reviews.  The main feature had 30 reviews, the sci-fi 85.  At a minimum then, the second was either controversial or one of those ‘so bad it’s good’ types.  However, I’m not reviewing that one.

The user reviews on the first were right - wooden script, wooden acting in most cases, but what made the film soar was the villain and his real menace, the constant action, the violence on the woman crook and her eventual disintegration - I don’t mean it was good but the opposite, it was appalling and she was complex and appalling - plus how the sis of the boy who was framed by those two could stand playing up to the psycho, even in order to expose him, also her catfight with the woman crook.

The reviewers were right, as mentioned - this film really was something, the themes universal.  One theme which relates to the point earlier about handsigns, has been used so often, it’s almost de rigeur.  The theme is of someone knowing something or having seen something others haven’t, and stubbornly sticking to what he knows - or in this case, the girl knows - despite everyone pressuring him/her about imagining things, about fanatasising, tinfoil hatting.

The theme is universal, it applies to everything from the Donald and the election result to certain pollies being bad ’uns, claims which are mocked, howled down by those who’ve not investigated to anywhere near the extent the one with bit between the teeth has and therefore they’re in no position to mock.

If you think I’m annoyed by it all, you’re right, just as the detective in this film is convinced the perp is other than the one being railroaded - the motif is constant, is it not?  Yet he gets faeces from everyone, he’s humoured.  By tomorrow, the rubbish we at N.O. have put up with for years like this will once again be water off a duck’s back but just for now, this Saturday evening, I’m p***ed by it and am saying so.

Back to the film.  The cop is in love with the sis, he says that did not sway his thought that the bro was innocent but you know - it didn’t hurt, and he’d feel sick inside that the sis is smarmying up to the killer, even if it is in a good ultimate cause.  Universal theme.

I’m going to write a short story on that theme, plus the one, remember, of crooks throwing a bag in the back of a passing innocent’s car, plus the usual male-female aspect.

  1. Gaslighting

" is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment.[1] It may evoke changes in them such as cognitive dissonance or low self-esteem, rendering the victim additionally dependent on the gaslighter for emotional support and validation. Using denial, misdirection, contradiction and disinformation,[2] gaslighting involves attempts to destabilize the victim and delegitimize the victim's beliefs." Wiki

It's used widely by agents of Them e.g. Madcow and Cooper on CNN.
A known technique used by Narcissists too - you're wrong not them.

From the film Gas Light originally.

"The entire Database of Maricopa County in Arizona has been DELETED! This is illegal and the Arizona State Senate, who is leading the Forensic Audit, is up in arms. Additionally, seals were broken on the boxes that hold the votes, ballots are missing, and worse. Mark Brnovich, the Attorney General of Arizona, will now be forced to look into this unbelievable Election crime. Many Radical Left Democrats and weak Republicans are very worried about the fact that this has been exposed....."
