There's one tape measure trick I use sometimes that the guy in the video doesn't mention - say you have a plank of wood, 12.5 inches wide, and you need to cut it into 5 lengths of equal width. Place the tape across the plank diagonally, so that the tape reads a width easily divisible by 5, say 20 inches, and mark off every 4 inches.
