There's quite a strong case, inappropriate in this post, that there was a real push to achieve the dislocation of the 60s and 70s in the 20s, i.e. it was the first real push to destabilize the patriarchal nature of how the family had become. There was a case for breaking down the power structure of Victorian and Edwardian families but it was not going to stop there, as They knew.
The depression and war intervened and they had to wait until the 60s to have another go. Hence the combined explosion of feminism plus the youth revolution.
If there had been a genuine war then, in the sense of one which clearly threatened the country, it might have slowed that process down and so an unprecedented period of peace ensued without the bankers crashing the economy.
Now the process is near complete and there is societal breakdown, it's time for the next two phases - depression and lawlessness, followed by war.
I'm not saying it will actually happen because there are uncontrollable factors but it is where the agenda is leading.
However, I won't mention any of that on this post because it is supposed to be just a bit of fun. :)
Are you sure this isn't a couple of modern lasses in fancy dress doing the dance as seen in the old films, with some clever geekery to make the video look old?

ReplyDeleteWe should all try to live life more like that!!! :D
Dude,
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Modern dancing has nothing on the Charleston!
Pretty good, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI have never seen something so inelegant.

Quite the dance and very interesting times. Hopefully things aren`t leading in the same direction though as you write a possible.

Oh hang on, I've just looked at the comments and see that you already have.
ReplyDeleteSteve - yes it definitely is two modern girls - look at the decor too. Still, it was a lot of fun, as inelegant as Uber might think they are.
ReplyDeleteMake the video a 21 minute "dance along," and you have the next DVD workout video.
