[new hampshire] more important than ever

Having read the the American pieces and then the Dizzy piece, the question comes down to whether the Lizard Queen can be the "Comeback Kid" in New Hampshire.

They're similar in that they both polarize voters but different in that he was perceived as young and she as old and as a woman. Before anyone writes off the Lizard Queen, it's also worth noting that a caucus is not a primary - a primary is more direct. Plus she's east coast.

With the exception of Gary Hart in 1984 and some others, NH has been pretty good at picking eventual nomination winners. Detractors of NH point to the uneven sample not reflecting the national split and yet it has the record to back it.

All eyes on New Hampshire. Too close to call.

  1. I'm hoping McCain, Giuliani, or Obama manage to get SOMETHING in New Hampshire...

  2. Interesting that you would lump Obama in with the Repubs Ruthie :)

New Hampshire is just like Iowa. It shouldn't matter one bit who gets what unless the candidates themselves let it. There is no way in hell that anyone should drop out because of those 2 states.

  3. I like primaries better too. Having said that, keep in mind that most Americans that participate in primaries are not representative of the population. They are more politically active. You have to understand, following Converse's classic piece on the way people vote: 41% (the majority) of US citizens vote based one issue alone...oh hell, I'll right a post about it later tonight.

  4. I hate how the portray Clinton as old, its just out right wrong.

Obama is getting a pass from the press....

I find the situation really not right. Just because he's a good speaker, means he's a good president?

    What has he actually done?

  5. LN (Or Verlin, now? :)

Those are the only three I could rationalize voting for. I don't vote along party lines.

This election's field is rather narrow. Sigh.
