[islamicization] london school of islamics replies again

It began with this post and quite a few people had their say. I then ran a poll and the poll results were predictable. One blogger said it was hardly a big enough sample, a point I conceded and yet, in terms of Muslims having their own schools, it was 100% against. On the question of Sharia Law being allowed into Britain, it was 95% against.

I would agree with the blogger who queried the sample size except for the extreme percentages and the fact that this blog is visited equally by left and right wing, as well as the block I put on an IP address voting twice. Under those circumstances, the vote holds at least some water.

Iftikhar Ahmad, of the London School of Islamics has replied an hour ago and I feel it is only right that his comments are printed here in full and without any comment from me at this stage:

Education of Muslim Children

Muslim community is a part and parcel of the British society paying taxes like any other law-abiding citizen of the United Kingdom. According to the Education Act of 1944, the children should be educated according to the needs and demands of the parents.

The Muslim community was not satisfied, therefore, they decided to set up Muslim schools and not faith based schools. The number of Muslim children is on the increase due to high birth rate, immigration and conversion. Those state and church schools where Muslim pupils are in majority should be designaated as Muslim community schools.

The Muslim schools follow National Curriculum along with Islamic studies and Islamic History based on The Holly Quran and Sunnah. There is no place for Comparative Religion and European Languages. English will be the medium of instruction because it is an economic and social language for communication in the global village.

Special attention will be given to its teaching right from Nursery level by qualified British educated teachers, but Arabic, Urdu and other community languages and Islamic studies will be taught by qualified Muslim teachers from abroad. Arabic, Urdu and other community languages will be taught as religious, social and emotional languages, so that the Muslim children do not find themselves cut off from their cultural roots.

It will help them to develop Islamic Identity crucial for mental, emotional and personality development.

One of the greatest British philosophers Sir Bernard Shaw once said that the future religion of the West would be Islam. The conversion rate in Europe and America clearly indicates that his prediction is cent percent true. The new converts to Islam are reluctant to send their children to secular or faith based schools. Mr.Yousuf Islam formally Cat Steven Started a Muslim school so that his children could attend.

The state schools have been mis-educating and de-educating Muslim children for the last 50 years. Majority of them leaves schools with low grades and unemployment is on the increase. Drug addiction, problems of run away girls and under age pregnancy is the fruits of the British education system.

The Muslim community has been passing through a phase of fourth Crusades. The battleground is the field of education, where the young generation will be educated properly with the Holly Quran in one hand and Sciences in other hand to serve the British society and the world at large. A true Muslim is a citizen of the world, which has become a small global village. We are going to prepare our youth to achieve that objective in the long run.

A true Muslim believes in Prophet Moses and the Prophet Jesus and without them one cannot be a Muslim.

My suggestion is that in all state, independent and Christian based school special attention should be given to the teaching of Comparative Religion and Islam should be taught by qualified Muslim Teachers to make the children aware the closeness of Islam to Christianity and Judaism which will help them to think about Islam, as “A Pragmatic and Modern Way of Life,” during their life time.

Mr. Ahmad's previous comment is also reprinted below:

The demand for Muslim schools comes from parents who want their children a safe environment with an Islamic ethos.Parents see Muslim schools where children can develop their Islamic Identity where they won't feel stigmatised for being Muslims and they can feel confident about their faith.

Muslim schools are working to try to create a bridge between communities.

There is a belief among ethnic minority parens that the British schooling does not adequatly address their cultural needs. Failing to meet this need could result in feeling resentment among a group who already feel excluded. Setting up Muslim school is a defensive response.

State schools with monolingual teachers are not capable to teach English to bilingual Muslim children. Bilingual teachers are needed to teach English to such children along with their mother tongue. According to a number of studies, a child will not learn a second language if his first language is ignored.

Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. Muslims
have the right to educate their children in an environment that suits their culture. This notion of "integration", actually means "assimilation", by which people generally really mean "be more like me".

That is not
multiculturalism.

In Sydney, Muslims were refused to build a Muslim school, because of a protest by the residents. Yet a year later, permission was
given for the building of a Catholic school and no protests from the residents. This clrearly shows the blatant hypocrisy, double standards and racism.

Christians oppose Muslim schools in western countries yet build
their own religious schools.

British schooling and the British society is the home of institutional racism. The result is that Muslim children are unable to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, therefore, majority of them leave schools with low grades. Racism is deeply rooted in British society. Every native child is born with a gene or virus of racism, therefore, no law could change the attitudes of racism towards those who are different. It is not only the common man, even member of the royal family is involved in racism.

The
father of a Pakistani office cadet who was called a "***" by Prince Harry has profoundly condemned his actions. He had felt proud when he met the Queen and the Prince of Wales at his son's passing out parade at Sandhurst in 2006 but now felt upset after learning about the Prince's comments.

Queen Victoria invited an Imam from India to teach her Urdu language. He was highly respected by the Queen but other members of the royal family had no respect for him. He was forced to go back to India. His protrait is still in one of the royal places.

There are hundreds of state schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be designated as Muslim community schools with bilingual Muslim teachers. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school.

Why do you expect english speaking indigenes to fund the teaching of other languages, when you already admit English will be the medium of instruction because it is an economic and social language for communication in the global village. and by implication therefore, the languages you wish indigenes to pay for will never be of any practical use in a modern world, or, what did you call it..., oh yes, ...a world that has become a global village.

Presuming a few too many rights, aren't you?

How can you build bridges to anywhere with that attitude?

Surely you must realise that incompatible languages CREATE incompatible communities unable to communicate.

    So remind me again...

Which communities are you trying to convince us, but failing abysmally, that you are building bridges between?

And given your abilities in English, why were you chosen to answer? Or are you the best.....?

  7. With all due respect, this is the typical Islamic propoganda one would expect in rationalizing YOUR culture ISOLATING your children to prevent western assimilation, and you know it.
Young Muslim children influenced by the western culture do not want to follow your culture and this is indicated by the many young girls who run away [not due to inadequate western schools] but to evade enforced, arranged Muslim teenage marriages.

You do NOT accept non Muslims to even teach in your schools so as to not 'tempt' and 'taint' your children with any western influences because the agenda is, as you admit, inflicting the laws and religion of Islam onto the whole unsuspecting planet.

How do YOU justify claiming your people are entitled to a Muslim education[state paid,no less] and cultural, religious identity protection[recognizing the value in all what that entails] when the Islam long term agenda is to deny us ours,GLOBALLY?

  8. And I was announcing my engagement thankyouverymuch!
It's bad enough my Muslim husband ruined my first marriage but Islam has now ruined my engagement, too.

It's like Islam is following me.

  9. A young acquaintance of mine chose an Islam option in his final year at Oxford. His tutor started by explaining that the Koran is the inerrant word of God and was not to be criticised. My young chum realised that "education" was not the mot juste for such tutorials.

In such matters, an honest anecdote is worth more than a thousand bogus data points.

  13. The Muslim bridge is not a device to connect two cultures, it is a device to invade it. What is more pathetic, were they to succeed, they would discover they had not even stolen a wealthy land, but only established their pauperized civilization in a different climate. Wealth is not a function of geography. And science has no place in Islam.

The Muslim invaders are without talent, and lacking the intelligence and guile of their socialist intellectual predecessors.
They are encouraged by that very class to paint by those revolutionary numbers, but there is no art to be found in the scribbling of the Muslim hand. Their sole advantage is our intellectual fifth column.

Our difficulties come from the mood of unwarrantable self-abasement into which we have been cast by a powerful section of our own intellectuals--Winnie

  14. Dearieme- just a point- I studied Islam at Oxford as an option in my first year of a history undergraduate degree and I wasn't told anything about the Quran being the inerrant word of GOd- lots about the economics of the Middle East.

I think the comments from Mr Ahmad are pretty self refuting- I'm not sure I need to comment on those. Xlibri- you should not caricature all Muslims as having the same view no more than anyone should caricature all Christians as David Duke. As to Muslims- I think we owe them rather a lot from mathematics and the preservation of Greek philosophy, to architecture and art. Saying there is no art in the scribbling of the Muslim hand is about as stupid as it is prejudiced.

  15. “It will help them to develop Islamic Identity crucial for mental, emotional and personality development.”

Why do they need an Islamic Identity to live in Western Culture, which obviously allows for greater freedom? What us crucial regarding the mental, emotional and personality development. If that’s what Muslims want, why not stay in Islamic societies?

“he battleground is the field of education,”
Ah, yes, the battle connotation as if education is war.
“with the Holly Quran in one hand”
Indoctrination to a myth called Islam.

“A Pragmatic and Modern Way of Life,”
This is if the 7th century is the modern way of life.

“State schools with monolingual teachers are not capable to teach English to bilingual Muslim children.”
But what do the Muslims teachers teach? That education is a battlefield or a jihad? How to tie a suicide vest properly?

Can any Muslim prove the veracity of the Qur’an? It’s just another fairytale.

  16. If you understand me so poorly, Gracci, I must be more clear. The Muslim scribbling I referred to was the immitation of the leftist template for the corruption of plain understandings. The intellectualoids that wished to bring down the West on behalf of their heroes in the East were far more sophisticated in deception. You can take that as in insult to the Muslims if you wish.

The Muslim contributed nothing to mathematics, to science, to government, or to philosophy. Whatever they had was taken from someplace else. The Hindus would not agree that the trade of their millions of lives in Muslim conquest was a good trade for the zero.
I do not caricature all Muslims. There is no need to know what all Muslims think. Western society is ultimately ruled by the opinions of its intellectuals. That is not working out at the moment. Islamic society has no intellectuals. It is ruled by its bullies. We don't need to know what its people think, we need to know what its bullies think.

  18. I would just like to say that it is not only Miuslim parents who are horrified at youth drug addiction, the high percentage of teenage pregnancies in Britain and other problems affecting young people. This is something that worries all communities and surely it is better to seek solutions together?

  19. Yaknow, Welshcakes, two diseases cannot collaborate for a solution to their disease, because solutions are never found at the same level of awareness that created them.
Cure the chronic disease of socialism and you will find you do not have a Muslim disease. Or you can keep both and keep watching.

  21. Multilingual Britain
The miracle of human variety is in danger of disappearing, if all of us speak alike, dress alike, eat the same food, read the same fiction and enjoy the same music. It would be a great loss to our colourful planet. Public sector needs a multilingual work force. Teachers and police officers can help with race relations in the classroom and in the community. Public sector is seeking multilingual recruits to serve multicultural Britain. The ability to speak languages from Arabic to Urdu is considered to be an asset. Linguistic skills, in addition to the usual entry criteria, will boost the number of recruits in teaching, police, medicine, nursing and the civil service. Bilingual teachers, police officers, doctors and nurses are in a better position to serve the bilingual Muslim community. The language system has been used successfully in the United States. Mary Doherty at TTA, points out those bilingual teachers can be particularly welcome in state schools for bilingual pupils. Various studies show that bilingualism increases overall intelligence. Monolingualism leads to isolationist and inward thinking.

Exposure to different languages and cultures can increase tolerance. Language learning in childhood lays the foundations for developing real fluency in that language. Every child should have the opportunity to study a foreign language and develop their interest in the culture of other nations. Languages can be seen as an important way of putting more fun into primary learning and of broadening the children experience. Learning a second language boosts your intellectual powers by physically increasing the number of nerve cells in the language centres of the brain. A study at University College London shows that the brains of bilingual people are structurally enhanced compared to the brains of people who can only speak one language. The effect is even more marked in people who learnt a second language before they were five. Speaking a second language is like having access to another world. No other subject expands mental horizons in the same way. In an ordinary inner city school in England, nearly 100 languages are spoken, yet still essentially this is still a monolingual nation. London is the most multicultural city in the world with over 300 languages spoken everyday.

Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual teachers as role models during their developmental periods. All state schools where Muslim pupils are the majority should be designated as Muslim community schools. They are in a better position to provide balanced education by teaching the National Curriculum along with Arabic, Islamic studies, Urdu and other community languages. An Islamic atmosphere will help to develop Islamic Identity crucial for mental, emotional and personality development.
