This is about the murder of Meredith Kercher and the necessity for closure. I have a request. If you are going to run a picture, run it of Meredith and not of the [alleged] murderess. The victim should be remembered, not the perpetrator.

For a long time, Calum has been crying out for help with the heartless, monolithic monstrosity, the NHS, which is blighting his wife's life. It has to start somewhere, in a small way, so why not with Calum? When Debacle returns I'll put her link up as well.I urge you to help if you can - you don't need to be British.

I join Alison in asking if British (and US and Commonwealth since we are all in this together) bloggers could run the logo above [linked here] in their sidebars, or a post every Friday asking your readers to support this.

[weekend poll] most enjoyable dance styles

MID-POLL REPORT IS UP

My goodness, for this week's weekend poll, the first thought was sexiest countries to live in - way too many! Then sexiest cars - that was worse! Finally - most enjoyable dance styles but with only ten choices, it was near impossible. I've done what I can, long-suffering reader and here they are for your delectation:

1. Salsa

2. Ballroom

3. Lambada

4. Ska

5. Afro-American, hip hop, rap

6. Modern dance troupe

7. Ballet

8. Ice dance

9. Jive, rock 'n roll

10. Ritzy,tap, Michael Jackson

I know that Riverdance and various ethnic styles didn't get in to the ten and maybe that can be at a later date. Anyway - choose which three you like best and vote in the right sidebar if you would ...

I would put the Lambada in front of Salsa, I do agree Your top 3.

But what about American smooth, you left that out, or is that under ballroom somehow? How about Latin?

And are we talking sexy watching them or sexy doing them? Maybe the order would be different ^_^

Blogger James Higham says ... (17 July 2009 11:22) :

I put the salsa to take care of the Latin, American smooth I don't know. Being out of this field but enjoying it, the pros need to put me straight on terminology and styles.

For example, Hammer and Michael Jackson might be too close.

In the end, there were only ten slots available.

I dropped the word sexy this week and you can interpret it your own way. It might be which style floats your boat or it might be the performers. I'm partial to the Russian girl in the ice dance but I know her to be a real b---h [I have heaps of photos of her]and that's why Platov left her and then returned later.

Astaire and Jackson are [were] top dancers. I went to see Todes in Russia and they were amazing.

Blogger Moggs Tigerpaw says ... (17 July 2009 12:16) :

American Smooth is is like Ballroom meets Fred Astair & Ginger Rogers. Elegant, lovely and romantic.

Blogger His Girl Friday says ... (17 July 2009 14:35) :

Oh, this will be good. back after work. :)

Blogger James Higham says ... (17 July 2009 15:08) :

I'll look for it, Moggs. HGF - do please.

I note that you seem to have omitted the ever-popular dance from the frozen north of Scandinavia - Lap

You forgot the all time number one. The Dad-dance-like-dork Dance

Where are my Strathspeys and Reels?

Blogger His Girl Friday says ... (18 July 2009 05:07) :

my what an energetic Salsa; I can't say I've ever danced Salsa that way. (Swing, maybe,in the younger years) (and you've left out the Tango... :/ ;)

Blogger His Girl Friday says ... (18 July 2009 05:10) :

I've voted, 4th would have been the ice dancing, even with the attitude. :)

Why no jiving?

Blogger James Higham says ... (18 July 2009 17:40) :

Jive's now in; Tango, I suppose, is one part of ballroom. Moggs, can you give us a youtube link for American Smooth? The Dad-dance-like-dork Dance is covered by the 'lads dancing' in ska.

Blogger His Girl Friday says ... (18 July 2009 17:56) :

Yes, but sometimes the Tango seems an entity unto itself. ;)

had to laugh at the ska comment! :)

Blogger James Higham says ... (18 July 2009 19:35) :

Ha ha. OK, HGF - I'll go over and look at tango in youtube. I have danced it, it's deliciously close but when I looked at the Argentine Tango just now, it looked a bit tricky.

All in the practice I suppose.

Blogger His Girl Friday says ... (19 July 2009 05:36) :

alas, I'm only a novice and know just a bit of the Tango. I've only danced it once with a very experienced dancer, if it wasn't for him I would have been all 'tangoed/tangled' up. ;)

My grand was too shy and reserved to teach me; but it's on the list to do (lessons)along with my eldest once my ankle is stronger. :) Him inside only waltzes on occasion, and maybe a two-step. Really, you men should relax about the dancing...(real men do dance!) ;D
