[concubines] china leads the way

The eye was caught by this:

China's millennia-old culture of men keeping concubines is back, with many communist party and government officials now keeping at least one "second wife" as a status symbol or to satisfy his sexual needs.

Chairman Mao Zedong would turn over in his grave [different position?] to know that his "reforms", taking all the pleasure out of life, have fallen by he wayside. However, the Chinese government is exhorting people to observe the old traditions.

Wonder what Mao would have made of this official:

The current record holder in terms of number of mistresses is Xu Qiyao, the former director of Jiangsu province's construction bureau whose death penalty over corruption was reprieved. Xu, who was in charge of infrastructure projects in the eastern Chinese province, had kept more than 140 mistresses. Anti-graft officials were astonished when they found Xu's sex diary which recorded the names of all his mistresses and his sexual experiences with them.

72 virgins for the Muslims, 140 for the Chinese, do I hear 150 anywhere?

I've always wondered about this, you know. With one woman being difficult enough to keep happy, how would a man fare with 140? Imagine the noise. And what if you liked one of them? You wouldn't get to see her again for four and a half months.

  1. Mao would have been good with that. He kept several concubines, aged middle to late teens. His teeth and breath had become legendary for their foulness, and he had obtained over time every venereal disease known to China, which he spread liberally to them.

  2. It must be easier keeping 140 than 1 as when they get a bit vocal you can escape to enother quick enough and then kick out the malcontent.

I don't know why we are building ties with the EU or the US when China is clearly a much more advanced society with its economy in better shape than anywhere else.

The Chinese led the world for hundreds of years and it looks like they will be taking over the top spot again.

  3. Anyone who thinks he has sole use of all 140 may well be wrong.
