[explain please] what's with this d day fiasco?

Help me out here please. Who is actually responsible for the D Day/Queen fiasco?

The Queen was embarrassed by remarks made by Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, at the weekend that he had "done his public duty" by accepting an invitation from French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

In an interview on the BBC, Mr Brown said: "If the Queen wanted to attend these events, or if any member of the Royal family wanted to attend these events, I would make that possible."

Did Sarkozy snub her or was it that Brown b--g-red up the protocols? Will someone tell me?

  2. Almost certainly GB received an invite which would have implied that both he and Her Majesty were invited but his clueless sycophants didn't notice the implication and failed to tell the palace.

  3. Basically what happened is that Her Majesty was outraged to find she hadn't been invited, upon which point Sarkozy protested that it had been Brown's responsibility to invite her. Knowing our Supreme Leader, he probably sat with the invitation outside the post box for six hours, dithering, only to accidentally eat the envelope, find out in the process it was empty, and realise he'd left it inside a laptop on a train.

  4. "On Monday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the U.S. wanted the queen to be there, and was "working with those involved to see that it happens."

't Was the Great Zero in revenge for the Mau Mau!

  6. I don't think he had much option - with the French telling all and sundry it was his fault - and Obama (he who walks on water) suggesting that the occasion required the Head of the Commonwealth to be present.

Mind you I suspect that he took great pleasure in phrasing it that way - after all the man of the manse probably holds by the "True" line of the Stewarts!!

    Basically it's Gordo's fault. What a surprise.

  9. She is the Queen of England. She even surved during WWII. She just shows up. Drags anyone that wants to go with her, to the event.
SHE DON'T NEED NO STINKING INVITATION!!
