[thought for the day] wednesday evening

A little philosophy inclineth man’s mind to atheism but depth in philosophy bringeth men’s minds around to religion.

Anyone heard of this chap? Did he know anything of the world or was he of the uneducated classes? Perhaps you could Enlighten me.

  1. Yeah, wasn't he the business partner of Oscar Mayer Weiner?

'Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener
That is what I truly want to be
'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener
Everyone would be in love with me.'

  2. It was a pen-name for Will Shakespeare. Who also wrote a lot of Kit Marlowe's stuff. He had a lot of spare time, had Will, because de Vere was busy writing his stuff for him.

  3. Bacon is really interesting- there is much more than just that quote- at some point I'm planning to do a series on his history of Henry VII which is a fascinating document and well worth reading.
