[thought for the day] saturday evening

A stand can be made against invasion by an army; no stand can be made against invasion by an idea.

  1. I don't agree, a stand/challenge can be made against an idea. And that can make all the difference!

  2. I think that Hugo was an amazing writer.

  3. The French didn't make much of an effort to stand against the invading Nazis, however, when there is an idea the French don't like, they are very quick to blockade Calais.

  4. Just because an idea is put forward by one or several people it doesn't have to be accepted blindly. Ideas can be challenged, discussed, changed or even stopped.

But that of course is dependent on people thinking for themselves and not accepting ideas without thinking about them first.

  5. Depends how the idea is presented, of course.
