Many surnames came down from occupations, as you know - Thomas Cooper, Thomas Brewster, Thomas Tucker.

So from where was the surname Crapper derived?

  1. To "cripper" is an ancient Yorkshire verb meaning to castrate a lamb with your teeth. Could that be the origin?
